Samson CO1U won't work - it's installed fine, the sonar LE cakewalk has installed aswell.. but for some reason it won't let me click on the Microphone to use as input. i am using windows 7 - will that have...

hmm that is strange, are you seleting the mic as an input in the source for audio? the software works on win 7. have you tried other mics in the input on your sound card?

Cant get any sound from mic!!!!

Go into Play control on your computer. Click on options then properties. Look at your settings for playback and recording. Check play control and your source eg. microphone. To reach this double click on the speaker icon in your toolbar or you can find it under sounds and devices in your control panel.

SAMSON CO1U recordings sound like they're underwater on my MAC

The behavior you describe suggests that the mic is not getting power. Since it is a condenser mic, it requires what is usually called "phantom power". This should be provided thru the USB port. Check to be sure that the USB port is supplying that power. Check with another port for example. If that fails, you may have a defective mic.

Keep us posted.

Sound quality not good at all

open up the sound icon on control panel...select recording......select samson mic....make sure set to default.....go into properties ...and boost main volume slider....most mics after install are set quite low and you have to go in and adjust the vol input level

SAMSON CO1U USB MIC FAILURE

Your first issue is vista... it just sucks. I would have to be there to figure this one out but im going to state the obvious, does it have an installation cd you didnt use? does it have online drivers you can find? Try looking around in your control panel and messing around with some of the options, good luck.

Samson co1u recording issue

you first 3 people are idiots... maybe if you had worked with the hardware you would know how the mic works because its obvious you don't. The 4th person is correct because this is exactly how i use the mic and it captures sound in stereo format beautiful when set up rite. Using it in mono, whether use keep on one channel or two drastically reduces the crisp sound that this mic can record.

Problem with Samson CO1U

Here are some instructions relayed from someone who was able to fix a similar problme with help from Samson tech support:

The C01U is a WAV device. Therefore, adjusting the slider for your default MIC input level on the volume control applet does not adjust the gain on the C01U. You access the actual volume control for the C01U as follows:

Start, Settings, Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices
Click on Audio tab.

Under "Sound Recording", insure that Default Device is selected as Samson C01U.

Once Samson C01U is selected as Default Recording Device, click on the Volume button just below the name. A new window will pop up, with a vertical slider. This window will be labelled "WAVE IN", however it actually does control the MIC volume for the C01U.

The key here seems to be that the USB device that represents the Microphone input (as far as Windows is concerned) is not a traditional microphone, but (as mentioned above) a WAV-IN device.
