I have a 1991 13" Magnavox TV with original remote control. RC stopped working, I bought new batteries, it worked for about 30 minutes, then quit. I bought new universal and put in code and it worked for about 24 hours, then stopped. Neither one will work now. Is there a fuse that can be changed?
Fault with TV remote sensor section circuit is very rare.
Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. Push in and hold code search button until it stays lit, then pushed the TV button, it flashes quickly. Then hit the number zero once, then hit channel up button until tv finally changes channel. Hit the mute button once to get it to store the code.

With nearly all brands of universal remote control, there is usually more than one code for Philips. Keep going through the codes until you find one that works correctly.
So if you know that the 1st code doesn't work, then don't save it, and move to the next.
You may find that several codes will actually put the TV into standby, but other functions will be different.

Most of these are new and codes do not exist for them. You'll need a universal remote that has a learning feature so it will learn the code. Walmart has them for $16-$19.
