We need help with setup after moving the unit to another home. When we purchased the unit we connected ie to our Zenith TV with antenna and it worked out fine. Now we've moved it to another house and tried to connect it to a Sylvania TV with satellite receiver. We followed the instructions for "Basic Connection" as shown in the manual and get TV okay, but can't figure out how to set up the unit itself to work with this TV. Can't even get a menu to appear on the screen. Also, has anyone noticed that the page numbers in the Index of the Manual are often incorrect? That's frustrating!

Throw the damn thing away. And don't even try looking on the internet for the solution. Every link will take you to a sales pitch. Very frustrating.
SOURCE: Unable to record one tv channel while watching another tv channel
You CAN record one channel and watch another with satellite service, but it would require two separate DBS receivers. The issue is that all satellite broadcasting is encrypted until it hits the receiver, which decodes it and transmits it outward toward your other AV devices. If it weren't for the receiver, connecting the coax cable to your other devices and trying to tune channels with them would yield no signal and possibly much frustration. You would need to split the signal into each receiver and have one connected to the television via one input and the other to the recorder then to the TV via another input.
With cable, you can split the signal without having to have two boxes - this way the QAM tuner in the cable box is still capable of tuning channels while the recorder can tuner basic cable channels for recording separately. You can also have the cable box connected to the recorder via composite so that you can record premium stations on a DVD recorder input mode anytime you like - but you would have to be watching that channel at the same time unless the DVD recorder had a pass-through RF signal (rather than a composite clone) - meaning you could also use coaxial to your television from the recorder and tune channels separately on your television while the recorder is recording one channel.
A lot of what-ifs there, but it is all quite possible.
SOURCE: I purchased a Panasonic DMR-EZ48VK
The remote lost connection with DVD set. Push OK and hold while you Push #1. This will reset the remote. Connection instructions with set are wrong! After re-wiring, everything works great! I had to call Panasonic and sit on hold, but they were very nice.

I think I may have the "answer".
I am in Atlanta and have a
Panasonic DVR that was working fine and sometime during the past month
or so we lost the channel listings. I've tried many resets as well with
negative results.
I called Comcast tonight. The agent helping me
took a long time to research the issue and gave me this answer (which
sounds reasonable). By the way, this is for the Atlanta area and may
not be applicable to other areas of the country.
Due to delays
in the conversion to broadcast digital and the fact that Comcast is
experiencing bandwidth issues, they have digitized the "channel
listing" signal. By mid-June Comcast's signal will be all digital and
you won't be able to watch a TV connected directly to Comcast cable -
regardless of whether it has digital or analog tuner (or both). This is
contrary to what I'd heard before.
After mid-June, you'll either
need to use a cable box OR what she called a "Digital Transmitter
Adapter" (let's call it a DTA). Prior to being converted to "full"
digital, you'll get notification from Comcast. She said I'd be able to
get 2 DTAs at no charge (I currently have one Comcast HD DVR box).
Additional DTAs would be $1.99 a month. DTAs will only provide access
to the "basic" cable channels, but the good news is that the Panasonic
DVR should be able to obtain its channel lineup through this DTA box.

Good Luck!
