Hi,
My refrigerator has the error code 'IF' on the front panel. We are unable to get ice or water within 3 minutes of unplugging and plugging it back in. Also, the temperature within the refrigerator and freezer seems warmer than normal.
What is the problem and how can I repair it?

Hi!!! You have a control board problem.Change the control board and you should be okay..Them boards did'nt come out good.Good luck..
Possible sollution...sears replaced a board last week as a recall for "energy rating" problem I now have that same code I am trying to find out which board they replaced; will submit asap
sears cannot tell me at this time which board they sent to my home....they say they will have the tech call me tomorrow to tell me and I will pass it along.
Code IF is ... ice fan...ie the fan in the ice maker is frozen. This is typically the ice fan sensor and easy to replace. The recommended procedure is to unplug the unit for 3-4 hours to allow the fan to thaw. They say this should stop the problem and it should not reoccur. They still will not tell me which board reads the information from the ice fan sensor, but I can tell you it was the main board that was replaced last week in my unit due to "energy efficiency" issues. They did slip and tell me it was the ice maker that caused the recall.

there are 3 ways it can be held on,screws,snaps,clips or slides one way up or down or side to side,to make sure what you have get the model number from inside the frig. ,go to sears .com click on parts put in your model number and your whole frig diagram will come up and you will see exactly how it comes apart,let me know how you do-mike
Look for a lever to select cube size right on the icemaker.

I have the same problem with this refrigerator. It looks like Sears Parts Direct sells all the parts for this unit except for the printed circuit board and temperature control switches. I called my local repairman and set up an appointment. He called back to cancel his appointment because he was also unable to get the electronics. Were you able to fix your unit? What did you replace?

This fridge is poorly designed and is not designed with air gaps or enough air gaps to allow air behind the back panel of the freezer where the fans and condenser coils are located thus causing ice to build up around the fan and it's ability to spin. The evaporator fan helps circulate the cold air generated by the condenser coils. which means you'll loose all your food if you don't have another unit to keep the food in until it's done defrosting or (2) to dismantle the entire freezer by removing all the trays and railing so that you can pull the back panel far enough to get the front end of a hair dryer over the top lip of the panel to melt the ice. My unit had ice build at the top right and left corners behind the panel. I opted for the latter and didn't have to throw any food away.920 views

I am having the same error code, last week sears came out and replaced a curcuit board as a factory recall/ upgrade for "energy rating" reasons. I am calling them and asking which board was replaced. I will add the info asap.
IF code on kennmore elite trio
I have the DOE recall on my Trio, Sears did the upgrade and now I get ER IF. Sears is returning to install the third board. Can the quality be this bad?
