Hope I can get some help? My Bosch washing machine fills with water and after filling the tub will not turn? It also does not spin, but it drains fine. I've changed the carbon brushes, I've also did a resistance check on the motor and it seems fine. I did a resistance check on the water flow meter it seemed to be the issue, I've replaced it, but the tub still does not turn or spin? Please help? Thanks

Thanks to Guest #2 our laundry is back in action and we're not waiting for a serviceperson. We took the front panel off, unscrewed the white plug and was sure our plastic drawer was open to catch the water, a load's worth. We found a small screw driver, 8 or so pony holders, some change, drill bits, bark, games pieces, can tops, etc... unbelievable. Thanks SO MUCH for the hint!

the valve on your inlet pipe may be faulty, have the valve checked or buy a new valve, not very dear, around $30 australian
SOURCE: tub will fill, but stops after and does nothing else
A washer that fills and doesn't do anything, or stops right after the wash cycle and then does not advance to the rinse cycle and drain is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

If the switch requires replacement, a new one can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com. Just use your model number as your search criteria. All these sites offer competitive pricing, so shop all them for the best price. If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Timers can be expensive whereas brushes generally arent. First of all unplug the machine and tilt it over. You will see the plastic brush holders either side of the motor at the back. You need to prize them out carefully and check if they are protuding over the end. If they are they are probably ok. Then you need some fine sandpaper. Hold this through the brush holder gap and press against the coil inside. Turn the motor by hand thus cleaning it off. Then put it back together and try it again.
