I have spent so much with repairmen coming to "fix" my LG. I've done everything they say and the problem comes back...of course just after their service warranty runs out. After many LE error messages, my washer is now saying IE now and it seems like there is no water going into the washer. My husband checked hoses, emptied out water from the small hose in front. I just unplugged the machine and reduced the temperature but it is the same. HELP!
>>>> LE Error <<<< An LE Error Code is indicative of a ?Locked Motor? or ?Overload in the Motor?. This is rarely caused by a problem with the machine Q1:Are there suds in the drum? -->Oversudsing is the main cause of LE error codes. Using non-HE detergents or too much detergent will cause stress on the motor. Oversudsing can also cause leaking and odor. Follow the steps below to resolve an LE error code caused by oversudsing. --> Step 1: Unplug the unit and let machine sit for 30 minutes to allow suds to dissolve. Step 2: Press the POWER button to turn on the washer. Step 3: Press the SPIN SPEED button to select ?No Spin?. Step 4: Press the START/PAUSE button to begin drain only. Step 5: After cycle is complete, remove the items from the machine. Press POWER to turn on, RINSE&SPIN button, then START/PAUSE. Repeat, if necessary. This will remove excess suds and light residue from drum. Do this until no suds are seen in drum. Q2: Is this a new installation? -->In new installations, the code can appear simply due to a miscommunication between the control board and the motor. In this instance, the unit will simply need to be reset, much like rebooting a computer. Unplug unit, press and hold start/pause button for 5 seconds, plug unit in and test with a Rinse/Spin cycle. Q3:Is a large load size in a gentle wash cycle? -->Gentle wash cycles, such as Perm Press, Delicates, Hand Wash, and Wool/Silk should only be used for smaller loads. Because these cycles are more gentle in tumbling and spinning, putting too much in the drum can register an issue with the motor. Remove items, reset unit and test with a Rinse/Spin cycle. Q4:Is the washer overloaded? -->Single bulky items (comforters) or extremely large loads can add extra weight to the drum which stresses the motor. Remove some clothing and restart. If it doesn?t work, unplug unit and let it sit for 30 minutes to allow motor to cool. Then restart the cycle. >>>>IE Error<<<< An IE Error Code is indicative of a ?Inlet Error? or ?Fill Error?. This indicates that the washer is not filling with the appropriate amount of water. Q1:Are the water valves opened completely? --> Check the home?s water valves to make certain that they are both opened completely, otherwise the unit will not fill with the necessary amount of water. This error code will appear if the unit is not filled with water in approximately eight minutes. Unplug unit (10 seconds) to reset the code and try again. Q2:Are the inlet hoses attachedto the machine properly? -->If the inlet hoses are not threaded onto the machine properly, it will prevent the proper flow of water into the machines. Turn of the water valves, remove the hoses and reattach, making certain that they thread on properly. Turn on water valves and try again (reset unit by unplugging for 10 seconds to clear code). Q3:Are the inlet hoses kinked or damaged? --> Make certain the inlet hoses are not kinked or damaged. This will prevent proper water flow to the machine. Straighten out any kinks in the lines. If damaged, the inlet hoses will need to be replaced. Refer to warranty/FOC policy to determine coverage. Q4:Are the inlet hose filtersclogged? --> There are inlet filters on the units valves, where the hoses connect to, that are intended to filter mineral deposits from hard water and other debris from entering the unit. If clogged, water will not flow through these filters. Remove hoses from unit, remove the filters and clean thoroughly.
I had the same error code along with the drum "freezing" up. The first unit that was delivered 2 years ago leaked water from the detergent compartment and they sent a second unit. I have only had this unit for 2 years and I am very disappointed in the LG product. LG was no help on the phone and I the only people that could service it were 45min away from were I live. I took the advice of a posting on this website that it could be a part called the sensor assembly (#6501KW2002A) and ordered it from an online electronics store (www.mcminone.com). To get to the sensor assembly, you first unplug and take off the back plate that has 4 small screws. Next, unscrew the big bolt in the middle and take off the hubcap looking part the bolt was securing. Next unclip the two sets of wires on the bottom of the circle you are looking at (the set of wires to the right are connected to the sensor assembly you want to replace). Next you will unscrew the 6 or so smaller bolts to take off the circular piece that the sensor assembly is snapped to. Take it off, unclip the old sensor assembly and clip on the new one – and reassemble. This worked perfectly for me and the part only cost $18 bucks plus shipping. When working, this product works well but I will not be purchasing any LG products in the future.
I had the same problem but only after working on my hot water heater. The LG washer would show the error code ie, which is inlet water error. I took the hoses off of the back of the washer and pulled out the filter and sure enough, the cold water filter was full of slime and completely blocked. When you remove the hoses you will see a small tab. Just use some pliers and pull the tab and the entire filter comes out similar to those in a faucet. After I took those filters out I looked into the holes and they both have secondary screens that could be removed however they both looked clean so I didnt mess with those.
Another possibility... the position sensor is faulty. I had this happen to my WM2277HB recently. Motor would start to turn, then jerk, hum, and not move, eventually gives LE code. Powering down, all the other tips had no effect. Very unlikely that the motor itself is bad if it still turns freely. You could confirm the stator wiring is OK by unplugging it and taking resistance readings across the stator terminals of the 3-pin connector (any combo of two should be 7-15 ohms). I was able to order the part from an online electronics supplier (www.mcminone.com, P/N 6501KW2002A, description is "sensor assembly") and several other places may have it as well. You can download a basic but somewhat helpful service manual here http://136.166.4.200/contents/Laundry/WM2277.htm that has some disassembly instructions and exploded view diagrams, explains the troubleshooting mode. Don't even bother calling LG or a service tech unless it's under warranty. If you're here you probably have some basic repair skills and tools and can easily replace it yourself for about $20. My washer was about a year and a half old when the sensor went out, now it runs great again.
FYI, for mildew smell, mold on the front rubber seal, etc.....you probably know by now that you must use an HE detergent and only a Tablespoon per load. BUT, to rid of the mildew and mold, home depot sells something I bought that I put in the washer and ran a cycle. It dissolved all the clogs that created these smells and if you do this once a month, you'll have no more of this type of problem. Now, if I can only get my friggin spin cycle to work!!!! I'm 15 minutes into waiting to plug my washer back in to see if it's a "reset" problem.
Well, my LG washer stopped spinning too. After reading all the blogs on these LG sites and trying the unplugging, wait, reset, etc. a few hundred times over the past 4 days, I finally followed this tip: I removed the front cover on the bottom right front of the washer, then unscrewed the cap (small one) on the hose on the left (the drain hose) with a large dog bowl under it to catch the water. It was completely clogged and nothing came out. I squeezed the hose midway and sludge, sand, dog hair, etc. came out and then finally water. The water was enough to fill a large dog bowl. Once the water stopped, I unscrewed the large cap, pulled it out and it was worse than any shower drain I've ever seen!!!!! You name it, it was in it....including coins! I ran for latex gloves, came back and started pulling everything out of it. I rinsed it, replaced it, put it back in, replaced the small cap on the hose, replaced that, plugged the washer back in, started a rinse/spin cycle, and guess what???? The washer spun better than it has in years. Mine is from 2004. I never realized the spin cycle wasn't as good until I saw the result of my cleaning out the drain and hose. Spins like a charm! Next, I'll be removing the hoses from the back of the washer, as I understand there's a filter screen that should be cleaned periodically. BTW, I'm ashamed that I never read the manual that came with my LG.........everything you need to know is in it regarding all of the above I just typed. Good luck! I'm so happy for the online support from all the other LG owners. I've learned a lot. Thanks.

I just got the LE error on my washer. I unplugged the machine for 1 hour and the LE error came back up. Te washer fills with water but when it comes time to spin the LE error appears.
le error
i have a 2 year old lg combo and have tried unplugging it and have tried resetting it but neither work and the machine is empty and hasn't worked in 3 days. i tired an empty cycle and it tries to spin to no avail. the damn LE code comes on. mow i have to pay for someone to come repair it. i'll never again buy one.
I have the same problem with my LG combo. It DOES NOT fill with water. I have tried multiple things (checking hoses, making sure hoses are attached right, making sure there is not too much detergent or clothes in the drum, unplugging it to reset it). I AM SOOOOO FRUSTRATED!!!! In the time it takes me to do all this I could have taken my laundry to the laundromat and saved myself the aggrivation. I WILL NEVER EVER EVER BUY ANOTHER LG PRODUCT AGAIN and if you want to save yourself a whole lotta frustration and aggrivation I recommend those who are reading dont buy LG either. Thanks for letting me vent. I feel a little better. Now I am off to the laundromat.
