Our washer makes a loud "creaking/grinding" noise during the spin cycle. It still washes fine, but it's really loud. It's only 1 year old. Any ideas?
Check your bearings. This post will show you most of what you need to know about your bearings:

I had a Cabrio - had to replace belt, attenuator, and bearings all in a two year period. Finally trashed it and replaced with an LG when the drum guide disintegreated - I would not recommend the Cabrio models to anyone.
If you are having trouble removing your inner tub, you may need Cabrio tub removal tool part # JTP2014B available from www.jays-appliance.com 757-255-4445
Check to see if there is an article of clothing between the basket and tub. If this is clear, you will need to replace the tub assembly. Here is the part to order.

not nesseccarrily your pump, possible you have a rear bearing going bad, which will sound as if a helicopter is coming through your laundry room. ( noisy pump can be the issue , honestly a better and cheapre problem to have) in order to determine if its apump problem you can remove the lower access panel and unplug the pump then start the spinn cycle, if it still loud the pumpms not hte issue.
SOURCE: NOISE DURING SPIN CYCLE
You have to take the tub out, take off the rotor from the bottom of the washer, remove 4 bolts and take off the stator, take off the bearing retaining nut, then drive the 2 bearings out with a drift. I bought the bearings online for 20 bucks from a supplier (VBX). They are standard metric bearings number 6005 and 6006. I put some silicone grease on the shaft seal and drove the new bearings into place. Then reassembled, and the washer is whisper quiet.

try removing the top cover to the unit, 3 screws across the back. after ermoving check to see exactly wehre noise is coming from. some times a solid "smack " witha screwdriver will quiet teh dispensor motor if needed
SOURCE: Cabrio washer is giving an F 51 Code
The "F51" error code is common problem with the Cabrio. This is an RPS sensor error. The sensor is mounted along the motor windings under the washer and detects the rotation spin speed. The sensors on these units can go bad, causing the error code, and it has been a frequent problem. I would recommend you contact Whirlpool first (due to the unit only being a year old) and see if there is a recall or upgrade on this part. I believe there is. The repair would then be covered by the manufacturer. If I give you the steps to access and/or replace the sensor at this point, you may be voiding any existing warranty you may still have. Some components carry a longer warranty than your normal one year limited warranty from the manufacturer. Something you may consider.
If you have further questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you in some way.
