It doesn't happen all the time, but has happened more frequently lately. Will start the load, but does not seem to make it into the rinse/drain portion of the sequence. Will find fabric softener still in tray and all lights completely shut off. Sometimes the clothes will still be soaked with water, too. From time to time have moved clothes to dryer that seem to be fine, and even when the door is left open will return to find the bottom of the wash barrel with standing water in it. However if you put the washer into drain/spin it will kick the water right out into the drain, so I don't think its a pump problem. Any help will be appreciated.
SOURCE: Washer stopping mid-cycle with no error
Remove the 3 screws at the bottom of the front
panel under the washer door. Your filter door will be light brown. If
you find
a hose there it is to drain out excess water (water that could not be
drained
by your pump) After you have drained, unscrew the cap and remove all the
junk
inside. Have a large plastic bag to catch junk and water. Refit
carefully after
cleaning out. If not solved, something shd be blocking your pump, check
this
out. F-21 filter blocked.

Hi
To reset the Whirlpool washer turn off and unplug it, restart the washer after 30-40 minutes and check if the washer is reset. Let me know if you get any error code after restarting the washer. If no error code appears then the issue can be due to faulty door switch, remove the top cover of the washer and check the connections to the door switch. Hope this helps... Please post back with complete model# if you need more information.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa
This is a common issue with Whirlpool Duet washer however;
your washer needs a reset to resolve the control lock problem.
Press and hold the END OF CYCLE/CYCLE SIGNAL button for 15 seconds to reset
the control. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

I cleared the filter and the problem with shutting down in middle of cycle is still happening. Any other ideas?
OK, remove the top of the unit and check all the wire connections. It might be a good idea to unplug them and then re-seat them. Post back after you do that and try a load. Also, open the door, push the bottom of the seal back and see if there is an article of clothing that may have gotten in there.
I've checked the connections on the control board, opened the filter again, no clog, and nothing inside seal. The machine will make it through a full cycle 50% of the time. The rest of the time the wash light and add garment light will blink throughout the beginning of a cycle, and then the unit just shuts off. I'm thinking it's probably the control board.
Yes, you will need to replace the control board. Here is the part to order.http://bit.ly/TVJYl7
