Do you have the scanner set for "duplex" (two-sided) scanning? Check the switch near the front of the unit.

I've always found that you need to power off and disconnect the USB cable. Also, if the computer is left on most of the time and you haven't used the scanner for a while, just restart.

You would face the taxt or images face up then you would scan it by using the program it came with if it did or any othere program the can scan documents and imagees on you computer. Make shure all conecsions are conect property and the software is installed.

I found it by going to the Support & Drivers section of HP's Web site (www.hp.com), clicking the "Download Drivers and Software" option, entering "Scanjet 8250", clicking the Go button, and then clicking on the "Manuals" link in the left-hand column about 3/4 of the way down the page.
