Hello I have GE 21028 2.4 GHz dual cordless handset call waiting Caller ID phone system. From the time my telephone Number changed due to migration to a new exchange the caller ID does not work and "NO DATA" is displayed when receiving a call. I called the service provider and they showed that the other caller ID phone was functioning normally. I am told by them that this GE 21028GE3 Cordless Phone is not FSX/DTMF compatible. What does it mean ?? What can be done ? Please help/Guide

I contacted GE today and they told me how to get the caller ID to work on the additional handsets. You must follow these steps in the exact order given.
#1 - unplug the base phone
#2 - unplug the telephone line from the base phone
#3 - remove the battery packs from the phones
#4 - wait 10 minutes.
reverse the order when assembling. Put battery packs in phones, put the telephone line back in the base phone and lastly plug all phones back in. It takes about another 10 minutes after that before all phones start recognizing caller ID but it now works fine.

Caller ID in the USA uses the FSK standard. For the most part, caller ID in India uses DTMF (although I have heard of some FSK usage).
I am currently living in New Delhi and have an Airtel home phone line. My switch uses DTMF. I went to the Palika electronics bazaar (I aways use shop number 266 near gate 5, they seem to be a little kinder to foreigners as far as the "final price") and purchased an DTMF to FSK convertor. My US phones now show caller ID information, although using US number seperations ### - ### - ####. I paid R500 but you could probably get it for around R400 if you are willing to put in the time bargaining. It looks like they are also available on Indian Ebay.
Mine says UST001B. It looks like these are low volume items because they stuck the components into a box marked "DSL Splitter" It works to convert the caller ID as advertised.

HELLO BHUSHAN
AS I SAID MY PROBLEM IS SAME AS YOU AND SOLVED AFTER PUTTING THE DTMF-FSK CONVERTOR . IT IS AVAILABLE IN CHETAN ELECTRONICS IN BANGALORE FOR 400 INR. I AM SURE IT MUST BE AVAILABLE IN MUMBAI FOR SURE. ITS A CHINESE MAKE I HAVE AND MADE FOR UNIDEN CHINA. IT IS WRITTEN AS ADSL SPLITTER ON THE COVER BUT THE VENDOR ASSURED ME THAT IT IS ONLY THE COVER WHICH SAYS THAT BUT INSIDE IS DTMF2FSK CONVERTER. I WANTED TO BE SURE SINCE WHEN I PUT A ADSL SPILLITER IT DID NOT WORK. WHAT VENDOR SAID WAS CORRECT AND IT WORKED.
IF YOU HAVE SOMEONE IN BANGALORE THEY SHOULD GO TO ELECTRONICS MARKET NEAR CITY MARKET , PARALLEL TO NARASIMHARAJA ROAD IN THE GULLY.
HOPE THIS HELPS
