Hi there.. I have a Sony KDL-46W4000 european model and i have a problem with it. I receive my TV channels via DVB-C both MPEG2 and MPEG4 channels. It suddenly started to periodically delete all my digital TV channels, and i have been forced to search again, and sort all my channels again. Is there a way to get a firmware update or something? Sony does not send firmware out though the cable TV here in Denmark. Can it be done with a USB stick? And where do i download the firmware? Here's my product information on my TV: KDL-46W40XX/42XX 0004324515 B.U-EG-Q-C.T.GG-A.CY.Z Thanks - Mikael

Hi buck lite,
Your cable company is telling the truth, you have digital cable.
When auto scanned for digital channels the tv is lookig for OTR(over the air) signals. These are broadcast signals you will need an antenna to receive.
Depending where you are and the type of antenna you use you probably could pick up some digital channels.
Let me know if this helps and please rate this solution. Lone99star

Most likely this is caused by a defective main board. Changing the main board will fix the issue about 95% of the time.
To be absolutely sure, the voltages need to be checked on the power supply. If they are not the values listed in the service manual, then you should replace the power supply instead (accounts for the other 5% of the time).

That symptom may cause by the main board or t-con board, I suggest you do software up grade first.

Probably you are in "shop" mode of TV. Try to reset your TV and go through initial setup. Most important - choose "home" instead of "shop" when asked during initial setup. Resetting - keep up arrow pressed and switch of TV. Keep the button pressed when TV automatically switch back on. This will reset TV to factory defaults.
