Washing machine agitates, rinses, but does not spin

This concerns a Maytag "atlantis" clothes washer, model MAV6200AWW, style Y7909215, sn 20105180ac,about 12 years old. the wash and rinse cylces work fine. at the end of the rinse cycle, the water drains completely, but the spin cycle does not happen. the motor runs fine, good and loud like it always has up to now, but the basket does not spin at all. I have a generic handyman home appliance repair book which says that in situations like this, the spin solenoid is usually the primary culprit. ok. i have a volt-ohm meter (VOM) and know how to use it. so: (1) how do i find the spin solenoid on this machine? (2) how do i test it, i.e. i assume i need to take a resistance reading across its terminals; what is a "good" read-out value for it? (3) anything else i should check for? (anything in the lid switch that might be wrong?) [email protected] -- thank you

in the process of investigating the solutions posted above, it struck me that the drive belt was rather loose .... so on a hunch, i replaced it, and that solved the problem. thank you to all the people above who took the time to respond

SOURCE: washer will not drain water or go into rinse and spin cycle

First thin I would try is to check your thermal fuse for continuity. Its located on the tunnel that incases the heasting element.

Try putting the machine into diagnostic mode. If it won't enter diagnostic mode, then you need to replace the main control board.

You also want to check the drain hose, the end of the hose is tapperd and tends to collect lint. Run a coat hanger up the hose and see if you can fish something out also check that belt.

SOURCE: washer wil not spin or drain out after cycle completed

sounds like drain is plugged. this is a fairly easy fix,and you actually get paid to do it. unscrew the bottom panel of your washer should be 3 screws on the very bottom then you will see a white plug that is about 2 1/2" unscrew it (make sure you have a bowl under it water will leak ) and pull it out. this is where you get paid you will find all kinds of change and junk just clean it out reinstall and your clothes will be a lot drier after the spin cycle

I have a Maytag Atlantis MAV6200AWW Washer agitates and spins. Water sometimes empties. Pump is fine spins freely and the impeller is fine. Could it be the belt ?

You will need to check for an article of clothing stuck between the basket and tub that may be partially blocking the drain hole.

My maytag mav6200aww washer stops at the rinse or the spin cycle. However, if I wait about 30 min it will work. Possibly a bad timer? Are they difficult to replace?

If the washer is working properly in the wash cycle & not the rinse or spin cycle, I would suspect a defective timer especially with the delay of 30 mins you described. Replace the timer with this part.

Maytag Atlantis Washer - MAV6200AWW will fill and spin, but wont agitate. Also lost the bolt going down into the agitator. Anyone know what size it would be?

bolt has 1/2inch head but dont know the thread size is an orderable part 3 to 5 dollors, may not agitate since agitator not on shft to turn
