Hi been using camera for while now, no problems, thought had battery had gone as no display on top when turned on, charged battery until solid light which didnt take long and display came back. Downloaded pictures onto comp, turned off and removed connection from comp. Turned back on and then formatted card - process done many times. Turned off and put back in bag. Went to use today and there is no top display panel. I took pictures no problem but completely unable to get this panel to work. Any ideas please as desperate this panel has been really useful. thanks
If it 1) Does not work well after a FULL charge. and 2) the camera is OLD. All I can say here is your battery is OLD (bad). If the Charge time is Quick this also also an indication of and OLD tired worn out battery. They are useless after 7 years...... and they are very weak after 5. Some go bad after as little as 3.

Try to clean the contacts of the memory cards and, mostly, of the memory card bay of the camera. Use a dry anti-static fabric (e.g. what we use to clean eye-glasses). DON'T use any liquid cleaner of anything like that!
SOURCE: consistent under exposure
Under exposed should be minus not plus number.
Lucky you didn't buy Canon 5D or 1D- they have focus and exposure problems.
Hope you are not using the pop flash that is on the camera. If you are, then turn off the Red Eyes Modes.
Set camera to manual mode and lower the F number(open up to half or one stop).
What studio lights are you using? Increased the light output of studio by those number and shoot like you normally do.

SOURCE: Nikon D80 display panel F--
The lens ought to be fully functional in every mode. But if you are in a pinch then Manual it is 'til you can get it sorted or serviced if need be...in which case you'll need to swithch the AF Mode lever (under lens release button )from 'AF' to 'M'.
Have you cleaned the lens' electrical contacts? Examine but probably little need to clean the camera's electric contacts considering its' young age. Do you have access to another AF body on which you can test the lens and another AF lens to test the D80?
Please keep in mind that if the aperture is not set (locked) at its minimum, the error is a flashing fEE. When the body cannot communicate with the CPU in the lens, the error is F--, which means either the lens has no CPU or a bad electronic contact.
SOURCE: nikon coolpix L18. Can't put pix on comp. format card
I suggest you to remove the card from the camera and use a memory card reader to transfer the pictures to the computer. Note that the memory card should be formatted in the camera. Once the pictures are transferred you can reinsert the memory card to the camera and then format it in the camera.

My top LCD panel cracked and I can't find it anywhere. I've been emailing people throughout the world chasing this part. I don't feel like sending it to nikon yet. Did you solve your problem?
