"Unable to Print 6F"
The message "Unable to Print 6F" will appear on the display for one of the following reasons:
i. A foreign object, such as a paper clip or ripped piece of paper, is stuck in the machine;
ii. Mechanical malfunction.
To attempt to clear the error, continue to step 1.
1. Using both hands, use the finger holds on each side of the machine to life the scanner cover into the open position.
- Do you see the scanner cover support arm located on the left side of the machine?
- If yes, go to step 2.
- If no, verify you have opened the scanner cover (as in the image above). If the document cover was opened, you won't see the scanner cover support arm. Close the document cover and go back to step 1 to open the scanner cover.
2. Carefully check the left (2) and right (3) hand corners and the center inside the machine and remove any paper scraps that may be jammed.
3. Using your hand, move the print head from left to right, checking carefully for any paper scraps stuck under the print head. Remove any if found.
If the print head is in the right-hand corner, press and hold down the for at least 5 seconds until the print head moves to the middle. This will allow you to check the right corner inside the machine for any paper scraps.
4. Leave the scanner cover open and turn the machine around so you are looking at the back of the machine.
5. Open the Jam Clear Cover (1) on the back of the machine.

6. Check inside for any foreign objects or jammed paper. Remove it found.
7. Close the Jam Clear Cover, then turn the machine back around to the front.
8. Lift the flat-bed scanner cover to release the lock (1), then gently push the scanner cover support down (2) and close the scanner cover (3) using both hands.
- If "Unable to Print 6F" still on the display, go to step 10.
- If "Unable to Print 6F" has cleared, go to step 11.
10. Unplug the machine from the power outlet for approximately one-minute, then plug it back in.
- If "Unable to Print 6F" still on the display, go to step 12.
- If "Unable to Print 6F" has cleared, go to step 11.
11. Print a Print Quality Check Sheet (PQCS).
a. Press on the Touchscreen.
b. Press Test Print.
c. Press Print Quality.
d. Press OK. A PQCS will print.
- If the PQCS print successfully, your machine is working properly. The issue has been resolved.
- If the PQCS doesn't print because "Unable to Print 6F" reappears and you have not cycled the power, go back to step 10.
- If the PQCS doesn't print because "Unable to Print 6F" reappears and you have cycled the power, continue to step 12.
12. Your machine will require service. Any faxes received while the error message is on the display will automatically go into the machine's memory due to the product's inability to print. If there are faxes in memory, you can transfer them to another fax machine so they are not lost.
- If you don't want to transfer faxes, go to Warranty and Service Options.
- If you want to confirm and transfer received faxes in memory, go to step 13.
13. Transferring stored faxes to another machine.
To transfer data from your fax machine to another fax machine, you must have already programmed the Station ID in your machine prior to getting the "Unable to Print 6F" error message. If you did not already have your Station ID programmed into the machine before getting the error, you will not be able to transfer faxes in memory. Continue to Warranty and Service Options.
a. Press to temporarily interrupt the error message.
b. Press on the Touchscreen.
c. Press All Settings.
d. Press ? or ? to display Service. Press Service.
e. Press Data Transfer.
f. Press Fax Transfer.
- If "No Data" appears there are no faxes in memory to transfer. Press , then continue to Warranty and Service Options.
- If there are faxes in memory, the display will prompt to enter a fax number. Enter the fax number including the 1 plus the area code, then go to step g.
Warranty and Service Options.

SOURCE: brother MFC-5860CN print unable 51 error message

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

SOURCE: MFC-665CW "unable to print" 50 error

Did you have a paper jam before this happened? If yes then the paper must have pushed the encoder strip out of alignment. You will need to turn off the printer and then push it back into slot to fix it. Let me know if you need more help. Sai.

My brother printer is not working (Displaying showing Print Unable 6F) modle no MFC-8880DN

6F in a Brother laser machine seems to refer to either a faulty thermistor or faulty power Supply PCB. In either case the unit would need to be replaced. The machine is "obsolete" but not that old so repair is worthwhile especially if the machine has done less than 50K pages

Brother MFC-665 CW with "unable to print 4F" error

My MFC 665CW popped this same "Unable To Print 4F" error recently making the machine fully useless. Just an annoying triple beep and repeat error message to screen when trying to do anything at all with it. I wrote Brother about it. They said to check all through the machine (with a light) for any paper torn off inside, or unwanted foreign objects. This is a good step to do anyway to help maintain the printer. If that is not it, they said it would be a mechanical malfunction. I tried "resetting" by unplugging it for a while as they suggested to no avail. Also while I did find a bit of paper torn off down in my MFC 665 removing it had no effect.

Message unable to print 50

Machine Error 50 either means that there is a loose object inside the machine (usually piece of paper), or that there is a mechanical error which would need you to have the machine sent to service.
