My windows 7 starter does not start only gives me a start up repair screen @ i got a linkid=104288

put in the windows 7 disk. start again end say you want to install windows. Then the operating system discovered there is already an operating system and asks you, what to do. Put on a complete new windows, or repair the exiting one. Chose that, repair. The system will use the disk to repair the parts giving trouble now.

probably u dont have sufficient memory on the pc or that the file is corrupted and needs you to find another file.

Works for me Win 7 64 bit - same basic OS as Vista. May need to run in compatibility mode, I can't remember. That's a windows Vista/7 feature that allows you to run old 32 bit Win XP programs (right click I think)

should be even more compatible with Vista then Win 7. Have you tried running these programs in compatibility mode?
