My fuel cap release in my 2007 Honda CRV does not work - lifting the lever does not release the fuel cap cover. Is their an alternative way to open the fuel cap cover without using the release under the dashboard?

  • jfissel101 Jan 10, 2009

Thanks for the response, but unfortunately access inside the CRV is behind solid interior side casings and is not accessible through any compartment. After further research and contact with Honda service departments, I was instructed to use a credit card or screwdriver to jimmy the fuel cap cover open from the outside and then bring the vehicle in and have the release and fuel cap repaired. (Obviously Honda should consider an accessible inside release)

I appreciate your response to my inquiry.

You should have a pull strap in the boot area level with the cap out side, you may have to open a compartment to access it

2 reasons a car won't start fuel and spark. Check the gapping check your battery alternator and fuel pump. To check the file pump have some one crank it to start it while you have the fuel flap open you should hear the pump if you don't it's the fuel pump if you hear it working check your work .

I cannot find where petrol filter is located on Honda CRV 2004

I think that generation of CRV uses an 'In Tank' fuel filter. It is built into the fuel pump and fuel gauge housing.
You will need access to the top of the fuel tank. If you lift the rear seat base and remove the plastic trim cover under it. There should be a screw down access panel with wires rising out of it. Remove this to get access to the top of the tank.

How do i open fuel cap to put fuel in bentley continental

you will probably find that the small spring at the hinge to open the door when the release is activated has broken
try with the help of a friend activating the release to open the door manually
otherwise you may have to go in through the boot, remove trim and undo the latch bolts to allow the latch to let the door open

I need to open the bonnet of a 2004 Honda crv sports. I cannot get inside the car as I was in the process of replacing a flat battery and the car was locked when the bonnet was accidentally closed. So, no...

May have to get a battery powered sawzall and cut the latch that keeps the bonnet closed with a metal cutting blade. Then, go to a salvage yard and replace that part.

Good luck on this repair.

1998 honda crv bonnet wont release to open it what

Try pushing down on the hood while someone else pulls the lever to open the hood. Then lift up and release latch as usual.
Could be broken spring in latch.

2007 Honda Civic fuel door will not open, my son needs to get gas and the fuel door will not open, what is he to do?

You can get to the latch through the trunk. In the trunk, pull theliner away from the area adjacent to the fuel door. You'll see a blackcable that goes to the fuel door latch behind a metal frame. Reach inand turn the latch mount 90 degrees to release it from the fuel doorframe. Your fuel door will now be open.

For a fix, look at this low cost solution: http://www.instructables.com/id/Fix-Broken-Fuel-Door-Cable-on-Honda-Civic-82170/

I tried it over the weekend. It works great.

2002 santa fe can't release fuel door/cover

There should be an adjustment point on this cable at either end. Adjust to make the cable shorter and this should solve your problem.
