My LG WM2101HW front loader will not spin. It drains OK, but won't spin.

My LG WM2101HW front loader will not spin. It drains OK, so I don't believe there is any issue with the drain pump or the filter. When trying to spin, it sounds like the motor is growling. The tub will move a little bit, like the motor is trying to engage the tub, but is slipping. The tub spins OK by hand, so I know the drum bearing is not seized. What else could it be?

Are you getting any specific error codes on the display of the machine?  From what you are explaining it could be a number of different problems with an equal amount of solutions.

The only error code I saw was UE - an unbalanced load error, but it was only when I first discovered the problem. I don't have a history of getting that error frequently, and it didn't happen leading up to the failure. That's the only error code I had seen in at least a couple of months.

So I ended up taking the back off the machine and could see that the rotor was not consistently engaging the shaft of the spider. After taking the rotor off, I discovered that the teeth of the plastic piece in the center of the rotor had been stripped. It looks like that's the piece I need to replace. I can't seem to find that part name or part number, and all the exploded diagrams and part lists I find online show it as a piece of the entire rotor assembly. I'd hate to spend $120 for a brand new rotor, when all I really need is a $10-15 plastic part. Any ideas what this particular piece is called, and where I can get just that plastic piece?

unfortunately the rotor only comes as a full assembly. It is a part # 4413ER1003A I wish it was possible to order the peices seperately because it would make my repair bills for my customers significantly cheaper.

I would be leaning more in the direction of the door lock mechanism rather than the hall sensor as someone else posted. The hall sensor gives a very specific error code when it goes bad. Put the unit into a spin only cycle and verify that the door is locking. To do this power up the machine and only press spin speed and the start. It is also possible that it is a problem with any one of the three control boards that are on the unit but again, these normally present with very specific error codes. If the door is not locking, or even if it is but the switch isn't sending the signal back to the main control saying that it is locked then all it would do is drain and then spin 1/3 turns either way inside the tub until time runs out.

I have this problem and you can find the solution on this same web page by searching. It is likely the Hall Sensor that needs to be replaced (see proflevy posting on Jul 16, 2008). According to the postings, it is from soap build up on the sensor and replacing it costs $18 for the part and is easy (many responses on this). I am waiting for the part and will try to fix mine soon.

Have you already check your drain clean out? If it's not draining, you'll need to manually drain the washer, via the small hose that pulls out, once it is drained you can unscrew the large clean out filter, and see if anything is caught up in that area.

If all that is clear, it's most likely, you'll need a new drain motor. Also, did you notice if your getting a "OE" error code on the display?

Slide a paint scraper or similar between the machine and the latch side and push it quite hard and it should open. Mine does and I found the fix on this site!

LG wm2101hw 4.0 cu.ft front load washer is leaking water out vent in back of washer. Yes, the vent that exits the rear panel of the washer.

same problem. LG stated I am using too much soap. Cant be because it still does it with no soap. Also have issues with spinning on bed comforter and also drum will not drain. I can wring out a 16oz of water from a cotton shirt sitting in the bottom of drum when completed. Floor is flooded and I am **********. Bought in April 2010 and have had 4 techs out to look at it, but there is no problem. Biggest waste of 600 I ever spent.
