SOURCE: Bad smell in our washing machine LG Front Loader WD-8074

Hi,
You don't have to drain all the water out after each use, you just need to clean things up a bit.

There is a problem with the design, in that the drawer area is a breeding ground for mould.

There will be a latch on the drawer you need to press to remove it - take it out and wash it in a hot solution of borax. Alternatively bleach it, and then wash in hot detergent.
Use a spray cleaner designed to kill mould and mildew, and use it with a brush inside the drawer apature to remove all mould build up. It's quite a grotty job - but needs doing.
After that, use a cloth to clean as far back into the pipe as you can.

Do two washes on hot with bleach, then a rinse, and it's good to go.

It is most important you leave the drawer open after a wash, and the door open more than 2" on these machines to prevent it, and a hot wash occasionally for whites. Tell the manufacturer that you won't be buying their brand again.

SOURCE: Front Loading LG Washing Machine leaves smelly sludge in wash tub

This machine has a tub clean feature that you're supposed to run with bleach. I did this and it helped the smell s bit. Recently we had an error code and the repair man that came to fix it gave me some good tips. His experience has been that the smell is from too much soap causing build up in the seal and along the tub. His suggestion was to cut back on the amount of he detergent (he said a tablespoon is sufficient). His company recommends using a product called Whirlout (you can buy it at Home Depot). It was originally meant to clean scum out of hot tub jets. Apparently if you call LG they will recommend this product, but haven't bothered to suggest it in the owner's manual. I was told to put one to two capfuls directly into the tub (not the detergent bay) and run the tub clean cycle. I used it last night and it worked - no more musty, yucky smell!

SOURCE: lg tromm front loader washing machine display panel reading l-E.

error code 'IE' means water does not enter the detergent drawer..if your water is hard or contains traces of lime deposits, the water inlet filter may become clogged..regular cleaning is suggested..clean the filter using hard bristle brush..

note: hard water is the one not undergone any treatment..in other words it is directly from the ground through your water pump and to the washer.

Does anyone know how to remove the top cover of the LG wm-2277 hw after the screws are removed from the back ? Have a water leak up toward the top of machine but cannot reach without removing the top ....

Disconnect the LG front load washer power cord from the wall outlet. Turn off the water supply to the washer at the water spigots coming from the wall.

Pull the washer 3 feet away from the wall, and disconnect the water supply hoses from the water inlet valve ports on the back of the washer. You may need a pair of channel lock pliers to loosen the hose connections.

Remove the screws securing the back of the top panel to the back of the washer with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Depending upon your model, you will have either two or four screws to remove.

Lift the back of the top panel up, and slide the top panel toward the rear wall, which will unhook the top panel from the clips securing the panel in the front of the washer. Lift the top panel off the washer and out of your working area.

LG WD-12124RD How do I remove the front panels?

Hiya,
most machines now open from the back you will find 2 or 3 screws/bolts at the top holding on the top section if you un screw those then slide the top back slightly it should unclip allowing you to take off the top this should expose some more screws or bolts that will be holding on the front & sides, if your machine is leaking from the front you could have a leaky door seal too so you may want to check that before starting to take it apart.

Hope this helps

On an LG 2277 washer. I try to start a load. I get error message: "de"- door not closed. It looks to me that there must a switch to sense if the door is closed. Where is this switch located and how do you...

The switch is behind the front panel - to remove it, unplug the machine and:

1. Open the panel where the drain filter is (lower left side of the front panel)
2. Remove screw visible inside this area and remove the white molded plastic - also remove the screw behind that plastic.
3. Open the washer door and remove the spring loaded wire around the door gasket. Carefully pull the door gasket away from the panel push inside and then reclose the door.
4. Remove the detergent drawer and the two screws visible behind it.
5. Pull the top of the electronics panel away from the machine and lift up - place on top of machine or hook it out of the way
6 Remove the 4 screws that are visible holding the front panel to the machine. Left the entire front panel up about 2 inches and swing to the right

The wire connecting the panel to the machine on the right leads to the switch and door lock mechanism

Door lock

if you cannot get to it by just reaching between the rubber rim.
The official way is to take off the top and bottom access panels , 3 screws on each in top rear and on the bottom front, then remove the front control switch panel.
then you can remove the front of the machine.
