SOURCE: panasonic dvr d 200 hand camera - the recorded disc doesn't play on regular dvd player

First I must say I have different camera, but in my case I must close the disc session from camera menu, so theat after it dvd could be played in dvd players and after it you can't record on that disk anymore. If you alredy know that, then sorry. I have a problem that some non-scratched in any way disks with data just don't respond at all, but that's another story. All the best.

Hi,

I'm sorry to say that the "Repair Disc" option re-formats the disc thus resulting in all the data being erased. There is no way of recovering the data once the repair is done.

When i have had that happen to a customer i have had to replace the dvd drive assy to take of the problem. Your videos on your disc should still be retieveable once the drive has been replaced, also ask for any firmware updates for your drive assy. I hope this helps

I accidently formated my panasonic VDR-D210 DVD using the DVD recorder menu. Can I unformat the DVD and recover my video?

When you reformat again using the proper disk, you should be ok with formatting. Whether or not you can recover the video is yet to be seen. Regards, Joe

Cannot finalize

Just to clarify - when you say try to finalize the disc on the DVD recorder, do you mean the DVD camcorder i.e. the VDR D100? if not and you mean an actual DVD recorder then this is where your problem lies, as the disc can only be finalized in the VDR D100 unit itself. this could be the reason behind the poor quality when you watch the clip using windows media player.

If i've got the above wrong, and you were talking about finalization problems on the unit itself all along then the following might help: how full is the disc you are finalizing? if it is pretty full then delete one or two unwanted clips and try finalizing again (this worked for me when i had this problem).
if the disc is not really full then it gets trickier. let me know if it works

Play back

yes, you need to format the disc before you record on it, this can be done on the unit itself.

before you can watch your dvd using your dvd player or anything else you need to finalize the disk, this can be done in the setup option on the camera
