first of all try inserting the memory card into other phone if it works then format it and re-insert it again.if still it does'nt work then check out your memory card jack present in blackberry.
My card's properties shows "Generic Flat" probably a linux file system. A windows OS will show the card when inserted in the device but there is no option to format. When inserted in a card reader windows will not recognize it. Resign yourself to using the card in the phone or find a linux computer. Try booting your windows machine from DVD-Rom with Knoppix, a live linux file system. If the card is recognized format to a FAT 32 or NTFS file system..
The best thing you can try to do is connect the media card to your computer. When you see it show up in "my computer" or "computer" right click on it, and select "format". Make sure the formatting is in either FAT or FAT32. Once that is done, put it back in the phone and try again. If you cannot plug the card into the computer, then use the supplied USB cable for the phone, and plug that in to the computer. On your screen it will ask if you want to sync, enable mass storage or charge only, make sure you select enable mass storage. If you do this your card should be readable on the computer and then you can format it using the same method I described. Just note that if your blackberry gets plugged in, it will show up with 2 "storage cards". One of them is the memory that is on the phone and the other is the actual media card. Make sure it is the media card that you have selected to format.
From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options > Media Card or Options > Advanced Options > Media Card. Display the menu and click Format Card.
some times Format Card option does not appear on the menu, skip the step and perform the procedure that follows.

On the Media Card screen, set the Mass Storage Mode Support field to Off.
Display the menu and click Save. The Media Card screen closes automatically.
Click Media Card to reopen the Media Card screen. To format the media card, display the menu and click Format Card.

Complete the following steps:

2) Install the third-party conversion tool and follow the program instructions to convert the audio or video file to a format that the Media application supports. Refer to the following tables for optimal settings in the Media application. Use the Media Manager tool to transfer the audio or video file to the BlackBerry smartphone using a USB connection.
Copy the files to the appropriate folder (either \blackberry\Music or \blackberry\Video) on the media card, or directly to the internal BlackBerry smartphone memory.
