BB 9530 can't read memory card, display insert memory card

My card's properties shows "Generic Flat" probably a linux file system. A windows OS will show the card when inserted in the device but there is no option to format. When inserted in a card reader windows will not recognize it. Resign yourself to using the card in the phone or find a linux computer. Try booting your windows machine from DVD-Rom with Knoppix, a live linux file system. If the card is recognized format to a FAT 32 or NTFS file system..

My bb 8520 says media card cannot be read. verify that the memory card is formatted. what do me?

Hi there,

The best thing you can try to do is connect the media card to your computer. When you see it show up in "my computer" or "computer" right click on it, and select "format". Make sure the formatting is in either FAT or FAT32. Once that is done, put it back in the phone and try again. If you cannot plug the card into the computer, then use the supplied USB cable for the phone, and plug that in to the computer. On your screen it will ask if you want to sync, enable mass storage or charge only, make sure you select enable mass storage. If you do this your card should be readable on the computer and then you can format it using the same method I described. Just note that if your blackberry gets plugged in, it will show up with 2 "storage cards". One of them is the memory that is on the phone and the other is the actual media card. Make sure it is the media card that you have selected to format.

Cannot play Blackberry 9000 mp3 files on Bluetooth devise

Complete the following steps:
1) Use a search engine or a dedicated download site to find and download a third-party conversion tool. The tool must have the ability to convert the format of the audio or video file to a file format that the Media application can read.
2) Install the third-party conversion tool and follow the program instructions to convert the audio or video file to a format that the Media application supports. Refer to the following tables for optimal settings in the Media application.
Optimal settings for the Media application on the BlackBerry 9000 series smartphones:-
For video setting's
a) Video format: MPEG-4.
b) Video file extension: .avi
c) Resolution (4:3): 240x180
d) Resolution (16:9): 320x180
e) Video bitrate: 400 Kbps
f) Frames per second: 24

For Audio settings:-
a) Audio format: MP3
b) Audio bitrate: 128 Kbps

Note: BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.2 must be installed on the computer.
  1. In BlackBerry Desktop Manager, open BlackBerry Media Manager.
  2. Use the Media Manager tool to transfer the audio or video file to the BlackBerry smartphone using a USB connection.
  3. Copy the files to the appropriate folder (either \blackberry\Music or \blackberry\Video) on the media card, or directly to the internal BlackBerry smartphone memory.
Note: Files larger than 3 MB cannot be transferred to internal BlackBerry smartphone memory.
2) Using the BlackBerry smartphone as a USB mass storage device:-
  1. On the BlackBerry smartphone, go to Options > Advanced Options > Media Card.
  2. Make sure that Mass Storage Mode Support is set to Enabled.
  3. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and follow the prompts on the BlackBerry smartphone.
  4. Open the My Computer folder on the computer. The media card should appear there as a Removable Disk.
  5. Copy the files to the appropriate folder (either \blackberry\Music or \blackberry\Video) on the media card.
