Connecting my Home Theatre system to Sylvania LCD TV/Ps3

I have an Apex HT-150 surround sound system and i was wondering how i would connect it to my TV and watch regular television with surround sound. I was also wondering if its possible to play my Ps3 with surround sound. The ps3 is connected with an HDMI cable to my TV. Im confused on how they all would be hooked up and necessary cords that are needed.. thanks for any help and advice..

how many aux. inputs for the red and white audio rca jacks on the system ?

does your tv have audio outputs? or are you using the converter box required for the digital transition?

also i don't belive that your system has a digital input audio connection ( optical or coax digital audio decoding stream ) so you would only be able to use the pro logic setting for any audio that you input to the ht 150 system

Does your tv have an optical or coaxial digital out.  Does the home theatre system have a optical, coaxial or hdmi in?

SOURCE: help

This is possible a number of ways. Depending on the type of TV you have, it may have audio out on the back of the TV. This will be two jacks that are RED and WHITE, and it should be labeled "TV OUT" or "OUT". Use an RCA audio cable and connect these two jacks to the TV jacks of the same colors on your surround sound unit. If your TV does NOT have audio out jacks, you can still accomplish this by use of a VCR. Just run your main TV input [coaxial cable from antenna or cable/dish] into the VCR, and then out to your TV as normal. Leave your TV on channel 3 [or 4, or whichever channel the VCR uses]. If you're using a regular antenna, you can switch channels on the VCR. If you're using cable, you should be able to just change channels on the cable box. This will give you surround sound from an older TV without audio outs. But most larger and newer TVs have an audio out jack on the back. Hope this helps!

Connect home theatre to 32" lcd to ps3

Depending on the year of your model of VIZIO your digital optical output may be tied to the DTV input only. Meaning the only time you will have audio coming out of the digital optical output is when your using the tuner and your on a digital channel. If your television is newer and the digital optical output is in white on the back of the television than it is tied to HDMI and the DTV Tuner and you will pass audio through the digital optical output when using HDMI or the Digital Tuner.

Now to get connect the HT: Normally you would run a digital optical cable from the source device to the home theatre system. Meaning if it was a PS3 you would run a optical cable from the Digital Out on the back of the PS3 to the Digital In on the Home Theatre receiver. If it was a DVD player than you would run the optical cable from the DVD player to the HT receiver. If you have a newer VIZIO and the optical output is in white and not black than you can run HDMI from the PS3 to the VIZIO and then run a optical cable from the VIZIO to the Home theater receiver.

You will have to adjust the audio setting in the PS3 to run audio out of the HDMI port if it is set to run audio out of the Digital Out or AV out. Also, if your going to run audio from the PS3 to the HT receiver through the Digital Out then you need to change the audio setting in the PS3 to Digital Out.

1. Select (Sound Settings) under (Settings) in the home menu.
2. Select [Audio Output Settings].
3. Select the input connector on the audio device.

Channel numbers and audio formats that are supported vary depending on the connector in use. AV is 2 ch. only, Digital Out is 2 ch. & 5.1 ch, and HDMI is upto 7.1.

I have no surround sound when watching normal T.V

Hi there, in order to listen to t.v you need to purchase an optical cable and plug this in the optical out of the tv to the optical in on the blue ray then select D.IN.1 on the blue ray and press mode on the remote until it says matrix . This will allow you to listen to the t.v through all speakers. hope this helps. Also remember to take the rubber protectors off the ends of the optical cable, a lot of people forget this :)

Please help with getting 5.1 sound from my TV!

You must run a Digital Optical cable from your PS3 to your reciever. Then press your function button on your recievers remote until you see SAT/CABLE on your recievers display. Next go to your PS3 settings and go to Sound settings, then Audio Output settings, and select Digital out (OPTICAL) then your done. This is the only way to get true digital sound from your PS3 to your reciever.
