Brother mfc 270w, how do you manually clean the toner or what button do you push that will clean the toner, which will enable my black ink to print?

My printer is unable to print in black when trying to copy from my lab top. Whenever I change the black cartridge my printer is unable to print black when I am trying to print from my lab top. My printer works find when copying a single document but trying to copy from my lab top is a different story. Once the printer cleans itself automatically, my printer can print black again from my lab top..

SOURCE: Brother MFC-5440CN Printer Problem

If this only happens when you are copying.

1. Your scanner glass is dirty. Open the lid, use windex to clean the flatbed. Look on the left side. You should see a strip of glass, with the scanner sitting under it. This strip is used when the document feed is being used. Make sure it is clean. Most common problem is getting a little whiteout or the sticky residue from scotch tape on this glass, which causes lines down your copies.

Clean it with alcohol which will dissolve the sticky stuff and the whiteout.

If this does not solve the problem, the CCD scanner in your machine might be going bad.

SOURCE: brother mfc 5840 won't print clearly

you need to check the maintainence kit and see if it's full. Also if it isn't, use some iso-proponal alcohol and some q-tips to clean the print section of the cartridge and the cartridge tray.

My Brother MFC-7420 Printer always prints black lines and splotches down the left side of my paper. This happens whether I'm scanning or printing from my PC. When I looked at my drum, it appears a

If you are seeing vertical streaks/black lines your primary corona wire is dirty and or the fax scanner may be dirty.
1)To clean the corona wire you take the drum unit and toner cartridge and place it on disposable paper to avoid spilling.
2) Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by sliding the blue tab from right to left several times.
3) Return the blue tab and snap it into the home position.
4) Reinstall the drum unit and toner cartridge.
5) Close the front cover.
Caution: if you do not return the blue tab to the home position it may repeat the black lines.

This happened to mine, only my thick edge was blue. My problem was that the little green slider that cleans the wire on the toner holder was pushed to the wrong side. (Sorry, can't remember technical term for the green thing or the wire! It has an arrow on it and it's pretty easy to spot.) Push it all the way back to the left until it clicks and it should fix the problem.

Brother- MFC 90CW black ink just replaced, but not printing, even the test print didnt print propaerly, it came out very light in other colours but not in black? what to do? is it a toner problem?

Thoughout my experience of fixing computers, I have seen this happen twice. Once was because the "new" ink cartridge was empty (which should cause the LCD display to say "cannot print"). the other was because the end user did not remove the protective yellow cap before installing the ink cartridge (yes, they made it fit). If neither of these are the cause you should try cleaning the print head. You can do so by pressing "ink", then scroll down to "cleaning", then scroll to black and press "ok".

Mfc-240c not printing black ink

try to turn off the printer. Then from the manual that you have, remove the toner by opening the machine. Then tap and shake the toner. Then reinsert the toner, turn on the printer and print. If the black ink did not print, there is a mechanical problem with the machine itself. Consult brother for further help.

How to improve print quality
Cleaning the print head
To ensure good print quality, the MFC will regularly clean the print
head. You can start the cleaning process manually if needed.
Clean the print head and ink cartridges if you get a horizontal line in
the text or graphics on your printed pages. You can clean Black only
or three colors at a time (Cyan/Yellow/Magenta), or all four colors at
once.
Cleaning the print head consumes ink. Cleaning too often uses ink
unnecessarily.

Do NOT touch the print head. Touching the print head may cause
permanent damage and may void the print head’s warranty.
1 Press Ink.
2 Press or to select Cleaning.
Press Menu/Set.
3 Press or to select Black, Color or All.
Press Menu/Set.
The MFC will clean the print head. When cleaning is finished,
the MFC will go back to standby mode automatically.
If you clean the print head at least five times and the print has
not improved, call Brother Customer Service (see Brother
