Cannot change the screen orientation on my Gateway M280 tablet PC

Whenever I push the button (hardware) on my Gateway M280 tablet PC to change the orientation from primary landscape to secondary landscape, I get the following error dialog:

[Tablet Button]

The setting you requested cannot be supported.
Open Display in Control Panel, adjust the settings, and then try to change orientation again.

I have tried selecting nearly every single setting I can in the display settings to no avail. I am at the end of my rope and the ATI folks who created the drivers for this laptop's video card don't have a driver update to help, apparently.

I'm on Windows XP for Tablet PCs (2002) SP3.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated! I have the same problem with a Dell Latitude XT running Windows XP and started with update To SP3

SOURCE: Cannot change the screen orientation on my Gateway M280 tablet PC

Ok so I had the same problem on my tablet cx2000. Did you download any of the service packs from xp? If so that is what is causing the problem. Your computer will work fine without it so you just need to de-install it. Go to your add and remove programs and delete the service pack. Once your computer reboots then it will be fine!

My laptop screen has turned on it's side, how do i put it right

A tablet PC is expected to change orientation of the screen if you put the laptop in Tablet Mode.
If all hardware and software are in working order (correctly configured) you should be able to change screen orientation
  1. By pressing the rotation button. I can't say where it is since you did not specify the Toshiba Model.
  2. Or you press CTRL ALT ( UpArrow, DownArrow, Left Arrow, Right Arrow). CTRL ALT UpArrow will restore the screen to the default orientation in tab let PC Mode.

Can't change the orientation of the screen

Hi,

By orientation i take it your screen is either upside down or sideways on?

If that's the case then hold down Ctrl and Alt and use the cursor/arrow keys to rotate the screen back to normal. This will no doubt be the cursor up key.

Regards.

My tablet PC will not change orientation from landscape to portait - no matter what I do. I keep getting an error message saying the settings I have requested cannot be supported.

Check with Gateway support driver site, check for the latest graphics drivers for that model and try to update the drivers for it.

Orientating my Screen after I switch into tablet mode.

You can press the Orientation Button located in the right bottom corner of screen. It is marked with two arrows following each other in a circle.

Moreover, you can set as default the screen orientation you desire in Tablet Properties.

Also, remove the battery for 10 seconds and reinsert. This will enable auto orienting of screen.
