Hi, Own a Maytag Atlantis MAV6200AWW top load washer. Purchased new in 2001. The machine will not agitate during wash cycle. Motor runs and changes speeds. All other functions (spin, rinse, drain) work correctly. Have removed the thrust bearing assembly and the brake assembly but have not found any broken or excessively worn parts. Is this transmission failure? Thanks in advance.

#1 issue have had with those as a repairman is the pump.the spot welds break and the pump rubs metal to metal also the belt can wear and flap.you can get somthing in the inner tub in those little holes[ie..nail]and when the tub moves it drags.to look at pump, belt motor pulley.tilt washer back .rest on wall and you can inspect all from there.God bless, tom
Mine the same concern, I took it apart and found the thermo fuse in the motor had a bad terminal. Maytag parts man said you must get a new motor even though the fuse has a part # on it and is easy to change. I made temporary repairs until I find a fuse from a used parts machine. Scott
