The 2 most common reasons for a watch to not work after a battery change are:
1) The circuit is not functioning properly.  99% of the time it is not efficient to have this fixed.  It almost always needs to be replaced when this is the problem.
2) The oils in the watch have either become thick like car oil, or thin and now the metal parts are causing too much friction.
The 2nd problem can be fixed by having the watch serviced.  Servicing is usually between $50 and $100 for Fossil's depending on where you go.  This may not be efficient since most Fossil's are less than $150.
Stores that service watches are Tourneau and Precision Time: www.tourneau.com www.precisiontimeco.com

I put in new batteries and it does not work what else can I do?

Make sure you have the correct battery and that the contacts are clean. Make sure the back completely snapped shut. also you might want to try another new battery sometimes even a new one is bad. Give it a few minutes after you put it in to power up

Light doesnt work

battery could be low, i have had a similar thing happen with a large face rip curl watch, works fine until you press the light button, theres not enough current left to run the face and the light. mine was almost new too, so even if you just got it it could be that!

My kenneth cole KC2555 watch doesnt give the correct time even after adjusting it. How can i fix it?

If it's more than a year old it may need a fresh battery. Any watch or jewelry shop can do that for you for about $8.

I put in new battery using Casio instructions but still does not work. Touched battery and ac with tweezers for a few seconds, nothing happened?

Make sure your new battery is not flat and on full power. Sometimes batteries are not fully charged as they discharge over the time and as they are stocked in large quantities, some of them get discharged even they are sold as brand new.
When replacing battery in your watch, make sure you keep the right polarity. Plus and minus must match appropriate contacts. After replacement connect AC and plus side of the battery at once for 2-3 seconds - this will reactivate watch and you will need to set the watch manually.
If you did all this and your watch don't work at all, there is some fault in watch mechanics and you have to look for watchmakers help.

Replaced the renata #371 battery with a duracell d371. The watch still doesnt work. It working fine when i put it up on the shelf a week ago then just stopped. Is it the battery type?

Could be a duff battery - this does happen - even to duracell.

Try another battery - try and get a renata as was originally in the watch. Luminox usually use the Ronda swiss movement - which are pretty bulletproof movements. (i've got 2 Luminox - nice watches, prefer these of trasers)

If you don't get any joy with another new battery - send to the recommended sevice / repairer on Luminox website - prices are not that bad and you can specifiy exactly what you want done so it should not cost the earth - all prices are there to see.

My bulova watch isn't working

Even you change a new battery with desame size and volts not working. The problem is in the terminal where going to put the battery. The terminal had a dirt or a film residue that comes out from the battery, you better clean terminal by scratching the old film, the lying down terminal is negative,,the side terminal is positive you better observed polarity if happen inter change the battery side it will not works. If not working, even you clean already terminal, short the terminal connection for 3 seconds,If you have a flourescent with a ballast, put your watch lying where there is strong vibration for five minutes, your watch works 100% txt me whatever the result so i know it's ok.

Pocketwatch quit working

Stephen,
Pocket watches are watches the collect dust (from the pockets they sit in) very easily, so you may have an issue here with that being the cause of why your hands are not moving as they once did. Then again, it could be VERY easily that you went to a place to have them replaced and the battery you purchased was "aged" and no longer has power enough to make the watch function properly. I would suggest that if you replaced it yourself in a place where you bought the battery and went home to put it in, go to a place where they put it in for you as they will overturn the stock much quicker. If the clerk is someone of real knowledge they will even be able to tell you "we sell a 20 of that one every week" or something of that nature. As I have suggested to others this is the time of year where quality of service for a small watch battery is much less then it will be when you go in in 5 weeks when the store is happy to see someone.
