My kids say white smoke coming out the middle top of the TV and she powered off on its own. I unplugged the tv from the wall to allow it to cool off. Later in the day I tried powering the tv on to no avail. No lights illuminating and no sounds. Found a youtube video to remove the back panel and search for bad capacitors but Im afraid I can't tell if these are bad or good. I took a couple of shots for anyone's productive suggestions. Thanks for all the help FixYa community!
Check and replace its main power regulator as card basis. It comes at the center top part of the panel, looking from backside. You must ahve enough knowledge in electronics to do this work. There is no repair to this board, as the components used in the circuit will be very difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. Check this site. You'll get an idea about its working and other details. Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for more details. Click this link. View it in "Timeslide" or "Flipcard" option, which can be selected from the drop down box menu by the [Sidebar] tag, at the top left corner of the display window. You can also click the [Home] tab to the latest updates. It will make search easy. There are more than 1300 posts to different brand TVs now. Pull up older posts there.

Yes, many online shops or Radio Shack, also you tube has a video on how to repair and what to look for. Search for Polaroid power supply repair.
If you can see a picture (dim and low contrast) when you shine a light on the screen from an angle, your backlight inverter may have a burned-out part.
After this test, whichever result you get, unplug the set and use your eyes and nose to search for overheated parts. I have found connectors that overheated because of a poor-quality solder connection on the circuit board. Note that parts, particularly resistors, can overheat because of a fault in another part.
It is common for solder connections to deteriorate if they are frequently run at high temperatures. Sometimes circuit boards "normally" turn brown from heat because of marginal thermal design. Check the solder connections on components in the hot areas.
Static electricity precaution: most digital electronics are easily damaged by static electricity discharge. Avoid touching the metal parts of the circuitry unless you first touch the metal frame of the set to discharge any voltage buildup on your body.
