Wavy picture and now has no picture. lamp was replaced but nothing changed. it has sound.
The wavy picture points to a power supply problem.
Even after the digital changeover in Feb., the vertical scan rate (the pace at which the picture is built from the top to the bottom), will still be quite close to our line frequency of 60 Hz.
If the filtration of certain DC service voltages is poor, the remaining 'ripple' on the DC can interact with this scan rate and produce the kind of anomaly you describe and the lamp has no influence on this.
The power supply may have now failed totally.
I hope you didn't pitch the old lamp; it may still have some life left.
Unless this is a common problem with this particular chassis, it will take a tech with the necessary instruments to ferret out the bad component, likely a capacitor.
This set is notorious for defective capacitors. there are many that need to be replaced. I suggest dealing with an authorized mitsubishi servcer for this one.
