The wavy picture points to a power supply problem.
Even after the digital changeover in Feb., the vertical scan rate (the pace at which the picture is built from the top to the bottom), will still be quite close to our line frequency of 60 Hz. If the filtration of certain DC service voltages is poor, the remaining 'ripple' on the DC can interact with this scan rate and produce the kind of anomaly you describe and the lamp has no influence on this. The power supply may have now failed totally. I hope you didn't pitch the old lamp; it may still have some life left.    Unless this is a common problem with this particular chassis, it will take a tech with the necessary instruments to ferret out the bad component, likely a capacitor.

This set is notorious for defective capacitors. there are many that need to be replaced. I suggest dealing with an authorized mitsubishi servcer for this one.

Red?Green picture

You may have inadvertantly loosened a cable connection to the DMD or logic board... You might be able to shut it down, unplug the unit and remove the lamp.. With the lamp out take a good flashlight and shine it into the lamp housing area inside the Tv and see if you have any wire obstructions that you could have contacted with the edge of the housing as you were removing or inserting the lamp...
