This is caused 95% of the time by a bad igniter, it does not light it constantly and will give this odor.
The igniter light the gas to burn and heat, also make sure that the exhaust going to the outside is not kink or clogged at all this will also cause this problem.

Here is the igniter to order.

There's a slight burning smell coming from the dryer drum.

Some item may have gotten between the drum that rotates and the housing and during the rolling of the drum this item may be heating up from the friction. Check closely to see if you can find anything rubbing on the drum.

Dryer has gas smell inside drum and outside at vent when running. We have cleaned the duct and and all around the dryer.

Your gas valve is NOT closing the whole way. Get it replaced NOW. You are setting yourself up for an explosion if you wait for it to fix itself.

I have an LG gas dryer, lately when the dryer has finished my clothes has a burning smell to them. I recently painted and noticed the smell at that time. Though the paint smell is gone the burnt smell has...

Mark, My name is Hal and having trouble understanding where you painted. Did you paint the inside of the drum? Or did you paint the house interior?

If you painted the inside of the drum did you use a high temperature paint? If not, that could be your problem since the dryer does get very hot inside and it could be melting your paint.

My dryers smells like its burning and inside when drying gets really too hot. The air vent going outside is clean. I took off the casing and cleaned the inside of the dryer. The belt seems like its ok....

Lint burns quickly and rarely holds a flame long enough to cause a fire hazard. Metal burning would probably indicate friction on spinning metal, like the motor shaft, or the drum rollers. Plastic/rubber are usually parts that are intended to wear, and can usually be replaced.

Along with the belt, you should also check the idler pulley that takes up the slack in the belt, as well as any drum rollers or nylon glides on the top of the dryer door where the drum rides. Metal, plastic, and lint have distinct smells, and you should be able to determine which one(s) you have by smell.

Lint is a common burner in dryers, and it seems you've looked in some of the obvious places it can accumulate. When you have the cover off, pay special attention to the burner area, and any ducts from the lint screen area. Also, any gaps in insulation where air flows could cause hot spots in the unit. If you can see the flame while its running, make sure its size is not excessive. Flames should not be too low or too high, and should not escape the burner housing.

If you notice soot buildup, your gas/air mixture is off. If you've switched from natural to bottled gas or vice-versa, you may need to swap the burner orifices to match the different pressures of the gas fuel.

When the dryer is running it smells like charcol ligher fluid

Sometime recently there has been a petroleum product used in the house. Possibly an oil based paint, stain, varnish, adhesive or some form of cleaning product.

Anyone of these products or many others like them, contain a distillate of liquid. Check around the house.

Until that oil based product dries or cures, the odor and vapors will remain and so will the dryer smell.

At the end of the drying cycle, use the air fluff cycle to purge out the smell. Besure to return the selector on the dryer back to it's prior postition.
