My Privia px-120 piano suddenly frozed. none of the keys generate any sounds or does any other function buttons works. i turned the piano off then on again, and the problem was gone. however a while later it happened again, so i restarted it again. The problem seems to be gone but not sure if it will come back again. what should i do now? and what might be the problem?
Hiya,
I had the exact same problem and the piano is brand new! I considered the possibility of the above answer as I had plugged it in via a power cable (it was missing the 3 pin UK plug) and it was also plugged into a power strip. My dad also looked at it and couldn't see why this should cause it...but I tried the different combinations anyway...including with the proper 3 pin plug attached to the adaptor (when it arrived in the post), rather than a power cable. This was the result:
Power cable +power strip = piano froze
Power cable (straight into wall) = piano froze
Proper 3 pin plug supplied + power strip= piano froze
Proper 3 pin plug (straight into wall)= piano froze!!!!
So....in answer to your question...I'd say there's something wrong with the piano! If not, it should've worked for me on the correct combination. :I I will now be returning mine. I worry what the cause is though considering my piano is brand new....and therefore is this a fault that regularly occurs with Casio privias? I don't want to spend this much money on one if it's going to do this eventually.
Not sure that this is the right answer.
But it works very well with other electrinic devices.
When you turn off the unit it resets itself.
ie: the parser code program on the IC (Integreated Chip) defaults to the base program
upon power up.
This problem commonly occurs from a voltage drop at a standard household outlet.
It can occur from other high draw electrical items that are on the same circuit being turned
on while your playing your keyboard.
So stay away from extension cords as these increase electrical resistance.
ie: you dont get enough power for the device.
Another thing that can cause this is power strips.
I know we all use these for certain items but they can wreak havok on electronic
components by not being able to supply enough power.
Best that if something like this happens to plug the item directly into an outlet.
And make sure that Momma's microwave isn't gonna kick in anytime soon.
Hope this info helps.

Same problem here. I am hoping that I don't have to take it back.
I have the same problem as well. I was told that the problem could be the ac adapter, but I don't have an extra one to see if that's the case or not. If you have another adapter that fits, you should see if that works.
