I rely on my time/date stamp function on my Canon A530 PowerShot camera for my job. Apparently, yesterday, though I had not turned the function off, my photos revealed no date stamp. When I went to make sure the function was ON, the menu that allows me to access this control would not even highlight and allow me access to choose the ON/OFF option. Its as if the menu is a template of options on other cameras suggesting my camera has no time/date stamp function. Please help.
In many cameras these settings depend on the shooting mode. Did you change the shooting mode? If so, return to your normal shooting mode and the function should be available again.
If this doesn't fix your problem I need to know if you have your camera's user manual. If I can find the solution in your user manual I need to know if you can read the steps in your own manual or if I need to provide you a link to read the manual online.
I have to run so I don't have time to look in the manual for you, but I did find the link where you can download the manual. Download the Advanced User Guide. Look in the manual for the section on setting up the date stamp, and also for the "time/date battery". Good luck!

Thanks but I dont think its the settings. I keep it on Auto and have checked other shooting modes without success. I do not have the manual. Someone I spoke with at Canon (not a techy) suggested there might be an additional, watch-sized battery that might need replacing. Any additional thoughts? Thanks.
