TV does not turn on, blinking red LED

Hello,
I got a Philip 42'' Widescreen, Model #42PF7321D/37 September of 2007. Earlier today, when I turned on the TV, there was a black screen w/ no picture, but the sound was still working. About five minutes later, the sound stopped, and the LED turned from a green solid light to a red blinking light. The TV does not turned on since then. I'm pretty sure something is broken and needs replaced, but I have no idea what it is. Thank you for any assistance.

No power to my Phillips 42 inch Plasma 42pf7321d/37, just a red blinking light

Most likely it going to be a power supply related problem. The red blinking light is a code for a TV tech to diagnose the problem on the power supply board itself or the board that regulates the power for the screen. Some manufactures call it a Backlight Inverter Board. A TV repair shop should be able to look at it for you and tell you which board is bad.
Replacement boards can be found at a good price at Shopjimmy.com

relay clicking is a power board failure --- part of the board still works to supply power to the flashing lights--- the lights are related to an error code while in protection mode

42PF7321D/37 LED Light Blinking RED

my dad had this happen too. after some research, we found out that there are two capacitors on the power supply board right next to the connector for the main logic board that went bad. you can just pull those out and solder in new ones, and it works like new again! i found a repair kit on ebay for $35 including shipping, and that's all it took!
