There are many possibles that can cause "Close Front Cover"
Check the front cover actuator, switch. If all covers, switches is working fine, probably power supply is faulty.
there is a switch at the side that is being push by the cover when it closes check this switch to be sure it hits the button when close or you may replace the switch it has a problem.
Try checking the little "trip switch" that is actuated when oyu close the cover. To find it, locate a small plastic tip in the cover that goes into a small hole when you close the cover. This tells the printer when the cover is opened or closed. Should be on the right or left side of the cover towards the front. The tip may have broken off OR the switch is misaligned. If the tip is there try GENTLY inserting a small screwdriver into the hole and see if that solves it. Otherwise, it is a board malfunction...
That usually means some sensor giving you trouble.
This is what brother recomends:
How do I clear the message Cover Open or Please Close Cover from the display?
The message Cover Open or Pls Close Cover may appear if the front cover for the drum was not closed securely. Verify the cover is closed securely by pressing the cover release button located in the front of the unit below the Output Tray Support Flap and open the front cover. Close the cover until it clicks into place.
If the message continues to appear on the display verify the drum and toner assembly is installed correctly by following the steps listed below:
1. Press the cover release button located in the front of the unit and open the front cover.
2. Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge from the unit by lifting it up and out. Place it on a drop cloth or disposable paper to avoid scattering toner.
3. Hold down the blue lock lever located on the right side of the drum and lift the toner cartridge out of the drum unit.
4. Reinstall the toner cartridge into the drum unit by inserting it in the drum until it clicks into place
5. Reinstall the drum unit into the unit. Make sure it is securely in place.
6. Close the cover until it clicks into place
If that doesn't fix it, I guess you will have to talk to their support people.
Well here is what I can tell you.
Open the front cover. Staring you right in the face should be a bar code/number sticker. Look forward from that and there shoule be a small plastic tab, about a half inch long and less then the thickness of a popsicle stick. It is the front cover interlock switch actuator. It may be broken off.
Or look for the opening where that tab should slide into the machine the switch may be dislogded or broken.
Probably that tab has broken off not actuating the switch on that cover.
broken when i close the cover that is covering the ink
