Connect Macbook Pro to Component input

Tried PC input, but something is wrong with the PC input card on the back of the TV. Even without a connection hooked up, the screen is all fuzzy and messy.

Trying DVI-VGA (came with Macbook) cable: VGA--> Component-1 on back of TV. Can't seem to get it to work.

Is the PC input my only option?

Ok... it is hooked up properly. So what are hte proper NetCommand settings? I feel like I have tried everything!

  • Anonymous Jan 12, 2009

Yeah, I tried that too. I reset all configs on the TV, connected the VGA to Comp-1 input, and when I switch to the device from the remote, there is nothing but the blue screen.

You should be able to use an SVGA to component rca connector on any component input - i have a wd-65513, and thats how I have my pc hooked up to it. I could also never get a clear picture using the SVGA plug on the back of the set.

there will not be any netcommand settings - this is only for using the tv to control a component via firewire. All you need to do is go into the setup menu and turn the input you are trying to use on, and label it computer or whatever..check the tv's owners manual. if you dont have one I can email you one in a PDF file.

Lost wifi connection

Macbooks can be a bit finicky with their Wifi depending on the model number, and also which router you have. For example, an old Netgear-based router I had would routinely drop the connection to my old Macbook Pro, even though the mac had nothing wrong with its hardware or software, and it would still think it was connected perfectly to the internet.

The easiest way to determine if there is a problem with the Wifi built in to your mac is to try it on another network and see how you get on.

If you have no problem keeping connected on an alternate network, the issue lies between your computer and the base station, and is probably also affected by any other wireless networks you have close by.

At this point, without knowing anything about your router, I wouldn't want to suggest anything more, though forcing your router to use a particular Wi-Fi channel rather than allowing it to choose it itself might help out a lot. It's probably best to ask a local technician if they can help out if you're not comfortable changing such settings.

Connecting a PS2

the rxv463 will not upconvert any video signals. its what they call a pass thru video switch. chances are you are using a red, white. yellow (composite) connection. you will then need to pass this yellow thru the receiver to the yellow output of the receiver and into the yellow input on the tv. the same rule would apply to the component inputs and outputs as well as the hdmis

Conia plasma 42inch connecting to macbook pro - ??

Hi, i also have a conia plasma (and sony 510 amp). Which video connection are you using? DVI-VGA? DVI-component? Note that the tv probably defaults to using YPBR rather than VGA so you may need to play with settings in the menu ...

Help

Step 1
Shutdown your computer and look at the rear of the case to determine the type of video connections that your machine has. Nearly all computers will have the standard 15-pin VGA output port. In addition, you may also find that your computer has an S-video port, an RCA composite video port, a set of three component RCA video outputs or perhaps even an HDMI output port.
Step 2Determine the types of video inputs that are available on your plasma TV. There should be a standard RCA composite input, a three-jack RCA component input and an S-video input. In addition, you may also find a 15-pin VGA input, a DVI input or an HDMI input. Step 3 Select which type of connection you will use. HDMI and DVI represent the highest-quality connections, followed by VGA, Component, S-video, and composite. If your computer has only a VGA output and you will not using it solely to drive the plasma TV, you may want to invest in a video card upgrade. Most new video cards will offer dual monitor connections and possibly a separate TV connection. The first monitor connection is intended for the main computer monitor, and the second monitor connection, or the TV output, can be used for either a second monitor or a TV. Depending on the card, the TV output may be DVI, HDMI, component, S-video or composite. Step 4Purchase a video cable long enough to reach from your PC’s video output to your plasma TV. If the distance is over ten feet, you may want to invest in high-quality cables to ensure that the plasma TV receives a clean signal for the best possible picture. Cables over thirty feet in length, depending on the connection type, may result in poor video performance. Step 5Set your computer’s screen resolution to something that your plasma TV can accept, using the “Display” settings in the “Control Panel” in Windows. Refer to the owner’s manual of your plasma TV for the supported resolution and refresh rate. If you are using the S-video, composite or component outputs on your computer, this step may not be necessary. Step 6Connect your PC to your plasma TV using the appropriate cable. Start the computer up and it should recognize the attached display. In the “Display” settings, you will need to configure how the plasma TV is used if it is attached a second display. Most video cards support “Clone” or “Mirror” mode, which displays the same content on both displays. In addition, there is the “Extended” mode, where the second display will operate independently, and windows can be dragged from one screen to the other. If your plasma TV is the only monitor for the computer, you will not to configure the multiple display modes. Step 7Connect a cable from the sound output of your PC to your plasma TV using the appropriate audio adapters. Then relax on the couch and enjoy your videos on the big screen.
