SOURCE: philips plasma tv vertical black stripe

Ok did this happen the first time u turn on the TV. ? If so u might have a ribbon cable disconnect from the logic or u might have a defective Plasma panel. If u have a defect like your describing the IC's on the panel short out and no longer work causing that section of the screen not to function. Only fix then is replace panel

SOURCE: vertical black stripe on screen

Hi my name is Roety,
I can help you with your issue ,
The black strip is either a bad panel or part of the lower buffer board is bad. There are ribbon cables that run from the panel to the buffer it may just be a loose ribbon connector

Sounds to me that you have a bad connection/wire to the CCFL bulb on that side of the display. Should be an easy fix, do it your selfer thing.
