Element ELDFT406 shuts off by itself every 10-60 minutes

I can sometimes turn it right back on, but sometimes it'll take a minute or two. Doesn't seem like its over heating. Sleep timer is NOT on. I work on cars, not tvs, so any information would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I am having the same issue. I just bought my tv - same model at the Target Black Friday sale. Can I ask, did yours make a low humming noise before you changed it out. I still am within my 30 day exchange policy, so I am thinking it would be wiser just to exchange it... but my concern is, would I get one with the same problem (or worse) in exchange?

I took the TV back and got a full refund. Was told that they have had 5 returns of the same TV so I figured I could just buy a different brand. Bought a Vizio the same day and after one day the picture went out on it. I say return your TV, and never buy another TV from Target again. But to their credit, they did have WONDERFUL customer service.

How does Target have anything to do with those problems? It sounds like they honored their return policy and you got your money back. I'm sure the end of this is that you returned your Vizio as well for a full refund. Yay Target! Boo modern electronics!

SOURCE: My P42 keeps turning itself

Hi,

Disconnect the power supply for few minutes, say 30 minutes and then turn ON the TV.This would reset the TV. If you still see the same problem, it confirms a hardware failure.

As you could hear a clicking noise, it is more suggestive of a power supply problem. This a common problem on most of the Vizio's TV. You need to open the TV. Locate the power supply board. You would be able to find blown / bulged / leaked IC's. Take them out and re-solder the new one. ( you could get the caps from radio shack or even from fry's ).

I am pretty sure that it would solve the problem. If the problem still persists, revert and we could troubleshoot further.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

SOURCE: This TV constantly shuts itself off.

The issue has been resolved. I removed the back of the TV (pretty easy actually) by laying a blanket over the kitchen table and placing the TV face down. I started with the power supply as an obvious beginning. Both fuses on the board tested fine. And touched up every solder joint with a hot soldering iron in case the problem was a cold solder joint. After this painstaking venture, I performed another visual inspection and noticed a capacitor that had a thin black X on the top of the can. This is a common sign the capacitor has over heated. I located a replacement for $1.20, installed, and successfully powered up the TV. I have had no problems since.
Oh, yeah, I also paid $120 for a BN44-00150A replacement power supply, plus overnight shipping. It actually arrived three weeks later. That was two weeks and six days after I fixed the power supply myself.

SOURCE: Samsung TV...Turn on tv, it operates for maybe a

Not knowing the specific model for your Samsung TV and how old it is, I can only offer this possibility because I've encountered what sounds like the same problem. Certain models of Samsung HDTVs around 3-4 years back have a design problem with their power supplies - they put in the wrong size capacitors (aka "Caps"). After a few years, the capacitors fail, and the power supply also fails. I think it's possible to replace individual capacitors, but most likely you will have to replace the power supply. Unfortunately if it's out of warranty, it will cost several hundred dollars, especially for a home / onsite visit. There is a visible symptom - from 2-6 capacitors on the power supply board will bulge out, as shown in this pic:digizen.jpg
You might try calling Samsung customer service and tell them you are aware of problems with their power supply design, and try to get them to repair the TV for free, especially if you are just out of warranty.

SOURCE: T.V keeps shutting itself off

it may be due to overheating, ensure proper ventilation, clean the ventilation grill, may be the psu is not functioning properly and being over heated, if the tv starts normally after few mins then its the case of overheating.

I tried to register my new Element Electonics 40" Model - ELDFT406. Says model # doesn't exist ? Also having trouble getting the tint setting.

so you shouldn\'t bother too much with it. I have the same model and it shuts itself off whenever it chooses to. I\'ve only had it since the 23rd of November, and it shut itself off after 2 days and maybe being on only 6 hours in those two days. It shut off the other day after 40 minutes. Read the reviews on Target\'s site, most people have issues.

On Facebook, the manufacturer said they would be adding this model to their site within a week, and that was around the 26th of November that they said that and it\'s still not on their site yet. I got mine at Target and I have 90 days to return it, so I\'m going to wait until TVs go on sale around the beginning of Feb and return it.

Eldft406 HD Digital LCD TV.Just got it and the sound goes in and out.

I have this same one and it shuts itself off at random, one time after only being on for 40 minutes. It started within 2 days of it being set up and it was maybe used for 6 hours total when it first shut off. The remote hardly works too. Other people have the same problems with this TV, read the reviews of it on Target\'s site. I got mine at Target so I have 90 days to return it and I\'m waiting until around the beginning of Feb. when HDTVs go on sale again. I suggest you just return it,. You can\'t even find it on the manufacturer\'s website.

Element 40 in flat screen model #eldft406 will not stay on

Hi, unfortunately you're not the only one. I read some reviews on Target's site and many are having the same problem. I have one of these also and after only 2 days and hardly any use it shut off, that time was after it being on for 6 hours though. Recently, it shut off when it was only on for about 40 minutes. Don't bother with fixing it, just return it to where you got it. I'm waiting until HDTVs go on sale again, I have until around Feb. 23rd to return it. This TV also has remote issues where sometimes it just doesn't work. Return it and avoid this manufacturer!

I would bet you have a bad sensor. There are a couple of sensors that monitor heat. When it gets too hot they shut it down as a safety precaution. Once it is cool enough it will start up again.

Hi, That sounds like a blown capacitor on the motherboard in the TV, if you take it to a local television repair shop they'll be able to fix it for you.
