Does the lens still move correctly?
if so, sounds like you've got a case of the popping clip.
either way I have photos to show how to solve

SOURCE: Fujifilm finepix F460 - zoom error

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Andrea

Zoom, Menu/OK, up, left, right all don't work but

Try moving down, and then moving up. Similarly, try moving the opposing directions for left and right. If there is no way to go in a certain direction, on a certain screen, it will appear that the button isn't working. I think you can solve it now. I have faith in you.

I have a fuji finepix F460 which displays 'zoom error' and the lens is not retracting fully. I have removed and refitted the battery and tried all buttons but the lens doesn't move. Is there a reset...

Either the focus mechanism has jammed or the drive gear has sustained damage. Only way to be sure is to open it up and have a look. I have photos if you want to have a go yourself. my email is listed in "THE ONLY WAY I KNOW HOW..." In the tips & tricks section. Dave

Zoom error

worked on allot of fuji's. first detease, a gear is slipping in the lens retract assembly due to a crack or wear or jam

2nd guest .. zoom errors means its really stuck tight

the gears can be ordered and replaced and one more possibility is that the motor that drives the gear is bad
Also if dropped or zoom lens jammed hard... lens assembly needs total realignment or replacing..

When Zooming picture it produces blurred or fuzzy picture

This is when zooming through your camera LCD I presume? For small screens usually banding and pixelation is common, if this happens also when the picture is zoomed in on a larger monitor like on your computer then the resolution you set for your camera is low. You can check for the camera setting and increase the resolution from for example 1024x768 to a much higher value and the fuzinnes (blur) will disappear altogether...
