If you get an error when you connect then there could be a driver issue. If the camera isn't seen at all be sure the USB cable is good, batteries charged and camera is turned on AFTER you connect to the computer. Also try a different USB port on your computer.

My ipod not recognized by itunes in order to reinstall the software

Connections b> The USB cable must be securely connected both to the iPod and to the selected USB port on the computer. Reattach the cable at both ends, and click "Computer" in the start menu to see if the iPod is shown connected to the drive for that USB port. b> Drivers b> If the drivers of the computer responsible for the USB interface are out of date, malfunctioning or incorrectly installed, that may also cause the iPod to not be recognized by the computer. If this is the case, the device may not appear in iTunes and there may be an exclamation point next to the device in Device Manager. b> Software b> The latest version of iTunes is recommended to best communicate with the various models of iPod. Go to the iTunes website or click "Help" and "Check for Updates" in iTunes to install the most recent update. Further, the computer must be running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 for PCs, or OS X v.10.4.11 or later for Macs. b> Battery b> The iPod's battery must have sufficient charge to be recognized in iTunes; charge it either via USB connection or another power source if the indicator shows a low battery. Once the battery has charged, try to connect the iPod to the computer via USB cable again.

Won't come on after charging in usb hub

Depending on how long you've had the player, the batteries may need replacing.

I have seen a problem where the computer would not recognize the player and would not charge it, however.

First, I recommend trying to charge it directly from the computer USB port (not the hub) if possible. If that doesn't help, try reinstalling the software for the player to see if the computer will then recognize it and allow charging.

If neither of these fix the problem, it's probably time to replace the batteries.

Good luck!

Just purchased a compaq presario secondhand--is the battery supposed to charge automatically when you plug the computer in? Mine is not. Works perfectly with the power cord though.

All the laptops I have seen since the 1980's charge the battery, if it is installed, while the laptop is running. They charge at a slower rate if you are using the computer, and faster if you just plug it in and leave the computer powered off.
Most have a 'charging' led [green or amber] indicating that the battery is being charged when you plug the laptop in and leave it turned off. If you don't see any indication, check that the battery is connected firmly and that the connectors are not damaged. If possible, try the battery in another machine or a different battery in your machine.

Battery not recognized

If the battery is beyond charging, it might not be recognized but, all that I've seen could recognize it . There are 6-8 terminals on most batteries. 2 of them close the circuit indicating a battery is in place. If you have access to another battery that is made for your computer, try it. If you still don't have a battery indicated, you could have a problem in the charging system or the bios.
