It's quite a long process to remove the wash tub! Read all of this before starting - including the part about new parts #1-unplug the machine \ turn off water! #2-the top of the cabinet must be lifted from the front (slip a putty knife into the front groove to release the right & left clips - about 6" from corners) #3-carefully lift top up from front until it is vertical (support it so it won't fall) #4-undo clips and hoses that hold tub top ring in place and carefully remove it #5-plastic top (cap) of agitator in bottom center of tub must be removed (short screw driver should unclip it at four small holes) #6-remove 6 bolts from around inside of area that was under cap and remove plastic washtub bottom as well as center plastic dome #7-now center keeper nut must be removed from universal joint for agitator - now the whole steel tub should be able to be lifted off of the splines (pay attention to the relationship of the splines so you can put it back just as it was!! Now you should be able to clear everything from the area that was below the tub! Also check the outlet for any other clothing items!! when this all goes back together, its recommended that all new rubber washers and seals be used to make sure that the universal joint assembly stays dry!! GOOD LUCK

What causes a recurrent F21 error?

Hello. The drain error might be caused by something stuck in the large hose coming directly from the tub to the drain pump. Make sure the hose isn't kinked--there is a little pointer that shows the correct position. When you get all the water out, loosen the clamp that holds the hose to the tub and pull it down and away. Check to see if a piece of clothing has gotten jammed inside. Front-load washers are NOTORIOUS for sucking up baby socks, children's undergarments, hosiery of all types, underwires, slips, etc--the list goes on...Purchase several netted clothing bags and put these types of items in it. Wash the bag and DRY THE BAG, TOO! Also, I've seen where the clog is on the *outgoing* side of the pump--the hose that goes to the wall drain. Let me know how it goes. The part number for the tub to pump hose is W10003240 just in case yours is worn or gets damaged. I hope I helped you!

Hole in Maytag Neptune front load washer door and flaking or melting of door.

Hello,
I've owned the same Neptune since 1999 and had this problem happen to me twice, the first time the inside molded plastic door melted through in a circular pattern and had to be replaced. The fact that it was circular indicates that something was rubbing during the high speed spin. That something was a stiff bottomed duffle bag that was rubbing on the plastic door during high speed spin. The washer was full of other clothes that didn't allow the duffle bag enough room in the washer tub, hence it pressed against the plastic door. The second time it happened I got a circular groove melted in, but not through, the plastic door... caused this time by a small child's back pack. I would make sure "rigid" items have enough room to "float" in the tub cavity by not putting in other clothing that over packs the washer.

Error Code LD but the hose is not kinked or clogged

You will need to check the pump and drain lines for obstructions such as a small piece of clothing.

Any out of balance loading results in a violent wobble that actually causes the machine to walk! In addition, nylon "dust" has been observed in the area under the tub suspension. Has wear actually lowered...

the nylon "dust" is actually corn starch put there in the factory. make sure the unit is level but more importantly solid on the floor. if you can rock the unit even so much as to slide a piece of paper under a foot, at speed this will cause it to shake and/or walk. also too small of a load will cause an out of balance situation. a large load is actually better. when loading clothes place the heaviest articles at the bottom and lighter as you get to the top.

This could be an out of balance condition. When its happened to my washer, I rearrange the load if its large enough, and if its not, I find other items of like weight and add them to the load and start over. Calypso's are sensitive to fabric weight, so If you're washing towels, wash only towels and wash cloths. Make sure you put small items, like bras, panties, nighties, etc., in mesh bags and combine them with other light weight fabrics.

CLOTHES GETTING STUCK UNDER WASH PLATE

I don't know of a "permanent" fix, but I do know that replacing the nunater (wash plate) may help. Especially, if the rubber around the edge is starting to crack or curl, creating areas where clothing can catch. This is a known problem with the Calypso. As I was instructed, the problem was attributed to an excessive nunator time at the end of the wash cycle. Such a vacuum was being generated that it was pulling clothing into the edges of the nunator, leaving rubber marks and/or clothes becoming lodged. The manufacturer modified the control board to reduce the nunator time to prevent this. I can provide you with a part number, but do not know if the manufacturer will cover the cost of replacment. If interested, let me know. Do you need advice on how to remove the nunator (wash plate)? Or, did my previous post explain this enough for you? Please post back if you require additional assistance.

Calypso washer

You likely have clothing stuck under the wash plate. I received "out of balance" & "suds lock" errors & tried resolving the issue with extended spin and extra rinse cycles with the same results you have describe "not going below 7 min left in cycle". Thinking I had a clogged drainage hose, I removed the back panel after hose disconnection and "snaked" drainage hose - had problem here once before. Some lint here again but not enough to cause problem I reasoned, then I move to the basket area. Remove the plastic cover in the middle over the wash plate with a flat head screw driver by pressing in on indented tabs. Once removed, use a 10mm socket & ratchet to remove wash plate. I had three pieces of laundry underneath, 2 socks, & a microfiber runner's tank top. I concluded this to be the major problem caused by the small items entering in the gap in the rubber ring around the wash plate. This gap has increased over time by the ring's shrinkage. I am applying silicone to close this gap, but will also use a mesh laundry bag for smaller items in the future. Also recheck the leveling of the machine - mine was off considerably. Once I reassembled the wash plate & hose connections, the machine began working properly. No doubt, this design was not well thought through.

Have you checked the agitator? There may be sharp edges on the agitator blades. OR the towels may be getting stuck under the agitator and tub bottom. The agitator is supposed to suck the clothing down in the center and forcibly throw the clothing outwards against the tub. The cycle then repeats.
