The TV is a refurbished one that I purchased less then 6 months ago through Amazon.com. I have had no issues with the TV until now. I have followed all troubleshooting instructions offered by Sony online to no avail. I'm concerned that there is an issue internally.
I have a sony Bravia 40" LED TV. KDL40BX450.When I turn my set on it has no sound. And the standby light blinks three times and pauses. I have unplugged it. and even reset it to the factory settings. And as long as the set is on the sound works.but once I turn it off. and turn it back on later.it does the same thing again.no sound. what could be wrong .And is there anything I can do to maybe fix it.

The warranty on this set should be for 1 year. Return it for warranty service. Unless the set was dropped, moving it should not have effected anything. DO NOT open the set sas that would void the warranty.

Please count Sony KDL-46V3000 standby light blinks as there would be interval of 3 seconds between blinks. Let me know how many times light blinks as its an error code.
SOURCE: Sony Bravia 46Z4100 has a thin vertical red line on the screen
I assume that when you get the line you lose the picture, if so, you have vertical collapse, either a dry joint in the vertical section or capacitors or vertical I.C., I would doubt that the scan coil would be O/C as that is rare. if you can't do it yourself I suggest taking it to a repairer, as it should be an easy fix...Hope that helps...Phil

Try leaving the TV unpugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself.
If that doesn't work, most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you flashing red light codes, circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.
I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.
Power off the television. Wait a few minutes, then power it back on. If this does not correct the issue leave the power on, point your remote control towards the Sony television and hold the down arrow button. While holding the down arrow button press the "Power" button. Release the down arrow button and the Sony TV will reset itself to factory settings. Once the television performs a scan on itself your problem should be gone.
