Typical problem in some video/audio board. However, if this only occurs on a particular video input ie: dvd or vcr, it may just be your wire connection.

You have answered you question yourself:

You have a loose connection inside---may be a plug or connecter inside or a physical problem on one of the boards or even the main display panel.

Someone has to open it and see what they can find by probing the chassis in different areas.

Connect the audio out RCA jacks (white and red) on the TV to the white and red RCA input jacks on the sound bar for analog stereo sound or connect the black digital audio output jack (typically optical) on the TV rear panel to the sound bar's optical digital audio input jack for surround sound. Use an optical cable. There may be some user settings on the TV for audio.

Need s to be replaced the main board.

Sounds like the middle scalar board is defective. Since the issue comes and goes it could just be a loose connection to the between the scalar board and the PDP Module (plasma panel).

Great caution needs to be taken when checking this connection because it is a ribbon cable connection it and needs to be put in correctly aligned or it could cause a short in one of the circuit boards.

I first changed the 220uf capacitor with no luck. I flipped the BURN switch to on and the set has been working great for a week now. Daughter left it on for about 20 hours overnight with no problem. Anybody have an idea what those 4 tiny switches are for? I have heard these type of switches called "dip switches". They are tiny white switches in a yellow block on the lower left side of the upper circuit board. The top one was labled 40", the next one down was labled 46", the 3rd one was 4 letters "EW" something I think, and then the bottom one was labled "BURN".

hello my friend you have some loose connections on the digital board.this board is located right in the top center of the tv.if you do not have repair skills call the repairman he should not charge you too much for this job. good luck

I believe the problem is a failing main board i had a 37 inch vizio that had similar problem and was fixed 100% by replacing main board. i know have the 42 inch and have experianced dark screen a few times im still looking into it.

how old is this tv?
