Have a dark screen on samsung R530, but if I shine light on it I can see the image. Have changed screen and ribbon but still the same. Any help is much needed, Thanks
If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen
CHECK THE INVERTER... THEN THE CABLE OF VGA..AND CONNECTION

SOURCE: screen flickers and goes dark u can see the image
There are a couple of Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp tubes behind the screen. They have probably reached the end of life. (If you had no flickering, I would suspect a failed inverter.)
Replacement requires disassembling the display housing, then removing a screw from the side of the display next to where the fat pink and white wires go in. On most displays, you can then slide the tubes and their reflector out of the display by pulling on the wires. Be very careful - the CCFL tubes are long, skinny, and very fragile, and they contain mercury. Tubes usually come bare, with short wire leads at each end. Soldering the old wires onto the new tubes is a delicate task best reserved for experts. Alternatively, you can buy replacement tubes with wires already attached for an extra $8 each. See this tech support link at LCD Parts for more details.
