Dell optiplex gx520 wont turn on

I shut down my pc as usual and there weren't any problems before that day. When I returned, I tried to turn it on but nothing happened. Green light not showing at all yet when I opened it there is an orange light that is on inside (when plugged in ofcourse) that says AUX/PWR underneath. Can this be fixed?

Sounds like a power supply problem, find a local tech store for testing or just purchase and replace.
Dell computers parts are pripritory so you will need to purchase any needed parts from Dell.

This is most likely the power supply. You may be able to take it to a store like best buy for testing.

SOURCE: Orange light on Dell GX270 power button

I agree, the Optiplex GX270 is infamous for MoBos going bad. The capacitors have a manufacturing flaw, and up until February of 2008, Dell was replacing those boards for customers for free if it was found that the capacitors were the culprit. I just found a board yesterday with this problem. A sign that the capacitors are bad is either a buldge or they will be leaking an orange-rusted looking substance (primarily capacitors near the CPU). Symptoms of this problem include the PC rebooting itself randomly, and/or getting a BIOS error saying there was a thermal event.

SOURCE: Dell OptiPlex GX520 PC Desktop Problem

Hello everyone, check your cpu - I've just had one of these in for repair and the cpu was faulty - removing the ATX 4way 12v lead let the pc start rather then detecting a short and shutting the psu down. Changing the cpu cured the fault.

Thanks

Sounds like you may have multiple problems. Suggest trying to eliminate possible causes by removing components. Remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged. Remove the components one at a time and see if the LED's change.

My GX520 was shut down as usual last night...I turned on this morning and I get nothing...just a little yellow/amber light blinking where it is normally green....help

Here is the info straight from Dell. looks like you have an internal power issue. You will most likely need to contact Dell directly for assistance, they are pretty good about giving support even if the system is no longer covered under warranty.

If the power light is blinking amber -
The computer is receiving electrical power, but an internal power problem might exist.
  • Ensure that the voltage selection switch is set to match the AC power at your location (if applicable).
  • Ensure that the processor power cable is securely connected to the system board.

THe pc gives a steady orange light when power

Sounds like its in either standby or hibernate. Try unplugging it if it wont power on, press the power button, wait for 2 minutes then plugging it back in then turn it on. Afterwards, go into power managment, and find where it asks what do when you press your power button change from hibernate/standby to ask what to do.
