My printer keeps showing an error "Front Cover open Close it" athough every cover is perfectly closed

Although every cover is perfectly closed it keeps giving the same error message. When I contacted dell they gave me a reply to change the printer rather than spending time and money on it with a dell technician. Is there a way this can be diagnosed.

  • vvmproducer Dec 13, 2007

Although all covers on my Dell3000cn are closed, I can't even run a test page because it says "Paper Cover is Open, Close PaperCover 077-303." I searched Dell support and troubleshooting -- nothing. I looked through 20 pages of Dell forum messages -- nothing. I downloaded the manual and looked through FAQ -- nothing. I turned the printer off, unplugged it, and restarted -- nothing. I restarted the computer -- no help. I haven't been able to find a compendium of error message explanations for this printer. I can't see a sensor that needs to be tripped. Im working in Windows XP-Pro, and worked with a previous Dell3000cn without similar incident (although it did stop feeding index stock). Please help!

  3. Open and close the cover several times. Once the front cover is left closed the printer will start to calibrate.
Once complete, the error should no longer appear and the printer should resume normal operation.

Note: If the error message is still apparent after following the steps above, contact Epson for further advice.

Getting "inner cover is open" message

The inner cover is a flap on the inside in front of the carriage when it is at rest when the cover us open. You had to flip the inner cover down to access the ink cartridges.
Open the cover. The inner cover is in the center and need to be flipped up.
Good luck.

My mp600 keeps saying close inner cover-which is closed

I had the same issue, turning off didn't solve it.
There's a plastic flap the width of the print tray just inside that I flipped up and it solved this problem. It is directly in front of the ink tanks. I'm assuming we flipped it down and forgot about it. It seems it needs to stay up, although you wouldn't notice it when it flips down when you close the top, as it closes just fine with it down. It's easy to overlook. This took me a few hours to realize.

The top of the flap has a half circle cut out of it in the middle.

Cd tray error Canon Pixma MP810

Sorry a little late only just read your problem.
The location is not the bottom tray feeder but the disk tray. In settings change your media type to "Printable Disk" the paper scource should automatically change to "Disk Tray" and hopefully every thing will work OK.

Printer cover open error message

I had that problem too.

Unplug the printer.
Hold the printer cover open while you plug in the printer.
Then wait for the printer to power on while still holding the cover open.
Then close the cover.
The buttons should work and th error message should be gone.

It worked for me.
