My girlfriend had a slip and fall accident with my gps in her purse and she landed on it and the screen cracked. the gps still turns on but none of the buttons work so i don't know what to do with it. i want to replace the glass. i have no warranty on it because it was a gift from best buy for participating in a survey. so could i in essance take it apart and replace the glass myself? or is it special space glass that can only come from the moon or something? sorry for the sarcasm i just am a little annoyed.

If you're handy with small tools, you can make a new screen using Lexan, a Dremel tool to shape it, and then glue it into place. You'll have to dismantle the unit first to get the broken screen out.
Either that, or send it in to Garmin for replacement.

Like original poster, I've got a dent on my Garmin C320 screen - could see everything, but touch feature stopped working.
Just finished swapping the screen with the one from my old Dell Axim X3 PDA. Now GPS works again! It seems that older units were using industry-standard LCD that could be easily replaced. Not sure about newer Nuvi systems...

yeah sure with some handy work and a llittle patience you shouldnt have a problem just remove all the screws, be careful not to tear any wires remove the internal componets from your face plate take a small prying tool and remove the glass , just a few dabs of superglue and your back in business! if you want a shatter proof you can alsi use plexi glass.... and if your really adventerous you could remove the standard led's and put custom colors in .... but beware soldering on a board can be dangerous
