I have a Marantz NR1602 receiver and a Samsung 3D TV and Blueray Player. I also have a Verizon Motorolla DVR. Ofte, but not alywas, when I turn on the TV the sound comes on but the TV says No Signal. If I unplug the HDMI cable from either the TV or the receiver and plug it back in it comes on. Also, while I am watching, the screen goes blank but the sound stays on. Usually it comes back on after 20 seconds or so but sometimes I have to unplug the cable. This happens when watching TV, watching DVR and also when watching Blueray so I have narrowed it to the receiver, TV and HDMI cable. I tried switching to a different port and that worked well for about a month but then the problems returned. Any advice would be very much appreciated. This is getting very annoying. Thank you
First thing to do is replace the cable with a new high quality one. They can go faulty. If that doesn't work, check that you are outputting the correct signals from your devices, plus it is set to pick them up. If that doesn't work you might have a fault possibly on the TV.

Sounds like you have an issue with your electrical circuit. Your receiver could be receiving spikes of current from the electrical wiring in your house.
Review your current electrical situation. Keep in mind that certain outlets are on the same circuit and that running multiple, high-wattage devices on the same circuit can cause issues with some of those devices. Especially when it comes to turning devices on and off.
Many devices take a sudden, rapid charge to power their circuitry the moment you turn the device on. Home audio and HVAC systems are particularly notorious for doing this. Other devices on the same circuit can sometimes suffer influxes of power flow and may either turn off or go into standby mode to protect themselves from the resulting surges.
I've lost audio systems that way... I lived in an apartment building that has wiring most likely dating back into the 40's. I once turned on a space heater on it's max 1500 watt setting and blew my Logitech Z-680 speakers. (The "BOOM" sound that emitted from my subwoofer was AMAZING. I had just blown an amp circuit. It literally exploded inside of the subwoofer. Took pics and everything.)
If you have the means to do so... You might consider re-wiring your electrical circuit. Take into consideration where you're going to run certain devices and wire the system accordingly.
In the meantime, you would want to be sure to buy a HIGH-QUALITY surge protector for the audio system. Spend a few bucks and get a GOOD one with a good warranty on it. Don't use those cheapy ones that we only really use to split the outlet. NOTHING under 1,000 joules.
My receiver sometimes locks itself like that, though. If we have a power outage or the unit is unplugged suddenly, it will keep itself in standby mode until you unplug it, press the power button a few times to discharge any current left in the capacitors and plug it back in normally. Only then will it turn on again.

Check the settings on your dvd player!. It might be set to PCM
instead of HDMI.

Remove the HDMI cable (out) to the speakers from the receiver.
Connect regular speaker wire from the receiver to the speakers.
Of course, remove the (now extra) HDMI cable from the tv.
That will remove the loop.

Hello First off i would determine if the same thing happens when the cable box is connected directly to the TV with the hdmi cable.
If the picture goes out get a new box from your cable company.
If it works fine then its time to call Marantz
My Denon avr 4310 does a similar thing and after a lot of research it seems that the problem is with how digital signals are sent through the HDMI cable and how the control board of your receiver processes those signals.
Here what I mean
HDMI is meant to simplify connections by transmitting video, audio and CONTROL signals through 1 cable.
The problem becomes when you introduce a "middleman" in this case your receiver the control signal doesn't always get interpreted correctly.
My TV has the capability to "turn off" the "control" signal coming through the cable if yours does try that first (i have a sharp 52" led) this solved some of the issues.
My receiver has the capability to accept different inputs and merge them so here is how I get around the problem.
1. I use HDMI for video signal but also use the optical for audio this allows me to send the "complete" hdmi signal through the receiver and to the TV this complicates things but also allows you to get audio through your tv speakers so if you want to watch something late at night you aren't waking people up when the receiver gets loud. This stopped things like the video flickering or turning off.
You will have to play with your menu's to see if you can do this on your unit.
How to fix this easily? Dump HDMI and use component (red, blue green RCA's) for video yes its still HD and yes you will have to run audio separately. but it eliminates all the digital processing issues that receiver manufacturers haven't worked out.
I was pretty upset when I spent $1500 for my Denon receiver and Denon then told me that HDMI doesn't always make anything better.
