Try hooking up your camera to your computer VIA USB. Power on the camera and see if your computer see's the Camera. If you do not have your cable just try and take a picture. Then pull the memory card out and see if you can see the picture you just took. If the camera still works you could try the link below. More then likely if the camera works you broke the screen.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free worldwide, and may also include free shipping both ways (free shipping varies with countries). This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check this link for more info.

Applicable cameras include: A60, A70, A75, A80, A85, A95, A300, A310, S1 IS, S60, S230, S400, S410, S500, SD100, SD110, IXUS V2/V3/300/400/430/500/II/IIs, IXY Digital 200a/300a/320/400/450/500/30/30a

SOURCE: Blank screen on Canon Powershot S2is camera

hi.if you are telling both viewfinder and lcd are blank or black the problem is in the shutter that you found inside of the lens are not open.sometimes the cuase of the is humidity or moist goin inside of the shutter thats why it will not work properly or stuck up.if you can open your camera and adjust the shuuter from lens unit its better .but if not its better you bring to service center and request for adjustment.

by the way try also to reset your camera to default setting maybe it will help you.

thank you

Canon Rebel EOS T3 - camera has power but there is no LCD display whatsoever.

Has the camera been dropped or had a liquid spilled on it? Sound like a circuit failure. However, if it has been dropped it may indicate that one of the flexes has come out or the little flipper on the flex connector has popped up and the connector is not working.

Black screen, so cant turn the back light on

Couple of years ago I had the same problem. Panasonic service replaced me the LCD panel of it. After several months it has been dropped again, same failure again. I could not believe that the LCD went wrong again, so disassembled and noticed that the ribbon cable of the LCD had a contact failure. Could fix it myself. There were a couple of DIY videos on youtube...

Black Screen

Do more internet searches of your model. Sounds like the sensor chip died. Pretty expensive part. Could have not liked the salty environment or you are just unlucky. Do the search until you give up as there is a lot of info on internet. Cameras are getting pretty cheap now so if it is a little old or cheaper model, you may do better with a forced "upgrade".

Camera

Hey jess99,
It sounds to me like you have damaged your LCD screen by dropping the camera. Even though you could have your camera looked at by an authorized service technician, with digital camera repairs it is often more expensive to fix the camera than to replace it.

Sincerely,
Allan

Dropped camera

This sorta happened to me too. I could take pictures, but my screen was black. I also dropped it...at a school dance. I ended up having to go back to Target and exchanging it.
