The wiring might be bad or broken or you might have to replace a part called the power board

My Vizio GV42L HDTV had a similar issue. I had to replace the POWER BOARD ASSEMBLY, $109.71 (part# 0500-0507-0201).

What needs to happen to view picture? Screen is currently black.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.

Could you please tell me how to reset my tv? I have a blue screen

What should I do if my TV screen turned black, blue, or gray? print.png Print try this.

Proceed with the troubleshooting steps below only if you're seeing:
  • Black, blue, or gray screen
  • "No Signal" message without the DIRECTV logo
Note: If your TV screen appears "frozen" or you're seeing wavy lines or overlapping images, try this.
Solution 1: Check that your TV is set on the right input

[img border="0" alt="Image" src="https://cdns.directv.com/cms2/global/icons/sm_cl_blu__number2_icon.png">Using your DIRECTV remote control, press the TV Input button to cycle through TV inputs (Component, HDMI, etc) until you see a picture. If nothing happens when you press the button, try programming your DIRECTV remote to control your TV Input and try again.

Note: You can also try changing the TV Input using your TV remote.

Solution 2: Reset Your Receiver
[img border="0" alt="Image" src="https://cdns.directv.com/cms2/global/icons/sm_cl_blu__number1_icon.png">On some DIRECTV receivers there is a red reset button located inside the access card door on the front panel. Press it, then wait for your receiver to reboot.

Note: If you cannot locate the red reset button or your receiver does not have one, unplug the receiver's power cord from the electrical outlet, wait 15 seconds, and plug it back in. Then press the Power button on the front panel of your receiver and wait for your receiver to reboot.

Picture red can not fix

Step 1:

The problem you have is the grayscale tracking needs to be reset.
First, This looks like a philips tv. In order to set the grayscale tracking remove the back of the set. There should be rectangular shaped box that is marked screen and focus on it with 6 knobs coming out of it.

Step 2:

NOTE: DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING INSIDE THE SET-YOU WITH BE SHOCKED! WITH THE TV TURNED ON, WITH THE REMOTE, TURN DOWN THE COLOR TO ZERO. ON THE CONTROLS I PREVIOUSLY MMENTIONED, THERE ARE RED,GREEN AND BLUE ADJUSTMENT POTS.

Step 3:

TRY TURNING DOWN THE RED UNTIL YOU SEE A NORMAL GRAY PICTURE. YOU MAY HAVE TO ADD MORE GREEN OR BLUE AS NEEDED. IF THIS DOESNT LOOK RIGHT ,TURN ALL 3 R.G ANDB ALL THE WAY DOWN, THEN ADJUST THEM UNTIL THE COLOR IS JUST APPEARING ON THE SCREEN, MAKE THE PICTURE AS GRAY AS POSSIBLE. iF THIS DOESNT WORK,YOU WILL NEED A SERVICE PERSON TO REPAIR YOUR TV.

I tried to adjust the color on the back, then the picture went black. Now I can't get any picture back. What should I do?

Put the screen controls back as close to there original position then unplug the set for 5 minutes. Those are sensitive adjustments for excessive beam current the set will shut down and the micro will latch up. Like I said, unplug then try again. You may have to do this a couple of times. The closest way to adjust them without a dvm is having the set in aux mode, turn r-g-b screen controls counter clockwise, look into the red crt and raise the red control until red is just visible then repeat for the other two. If your gray scale is off such as to much of any one color, turn that one down just a little. The last part I just stated is with a picture on the screen. Your picture should be black and white with no color added. (turn the color down via remote control)

Went blank sound and picture went off will not turn off with remote or tv button. I have to unplug it to turn it off. when i first turned it back on it was just blue screen now still having to unplug it...

Most LCD tv's having a lot of bad caps in the power supply ,that makes for really weird things happen, since they work like a computer during boot. For that 2-3 second "boot" the processor in the set checks for a combination of things and if those caps go bad in the supply the set will show a wide variety of symptoms.
Usually the set won't start for a minute or two and sometimes longer, after that comes some weird things like lines and what not and the set finally just won't come on period.
I could write a book about how simple fix like changing a few caps causes all kinds of phenomena..lol

I went turn on my tv the picture came on then off

Picture turned Yellow because the Blue CRT stopped working. Power turns off because the power supply is indicating a fault. you probably lost your HT (high tension [voltage]) power supply on the blue CRT (picture tube). Professional assistance is recommended. HT power supply CAN DELIVER A LETHAL SHOCK even when the set is unplugged.

No display with DVD, VCR, or tuner

It sounds to me without knowing the model or type unit that you may need to unplug tv AND take batteries out of remote for a few seconds, replug and start over. Hope it helps
