My kyocera fs-1370dn suddenly says it is missing a developer unit when the developer unit is there and was just working

  • Anonymous Dec 22, 2012

Thanks - I'd tried all that already and a host of other things. I figure it must just be time to replace the developer unit altogether unless someone else has a brilliant idea

Yes , I gues thats the easiest and practical solution ....

Check that the toner you are using is genuine Kyocera, also that the toner hasn't run out, this is normally a toner related issue.

Most machines have a reed switch sensing if the unit is in place.
Remove the developer unit and push it back firmly to ensure it is fitted properly , if this dies not work . Check the sensor / switch , it may be defictive , or not alligned properly .

Can you use a Kyocera FK-170U fuser unit in place of a FK-150 fuser unit?

No the FK-170U fuser will not work in a printer that is compatible with the FK-150 fuser unit. I found a Kyocera FK-150 Fuser Unit available on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Kyocera-FK-150-302H493032-Kyocera/dp/B00GOO57M2 . Other sites have third-party replacements.

The FK-150 fuser is the correct fuser for the FS-1028MFP, FS-1128MFP, FS1350DN, among others. The FK-170U fits the following Kyocera printers: FS-1035 Mfp, FS-1135 Mfp, FS-1370DN and FS-1120D. There are a few other printers. The design changes means they can't be substituted.

I hope this helps.

Missing developer unit

Generally this printer can be separate into 4 major part: Printer body, Toner container, Developer unit and Drum unit. The developer unit is the unit where the toner container "mount" on it and it should be removed to allow cleaning task every time the toner container is replaced.
U may get this error message if the developer unit is not install properly after u replace a new toner container. Just lift the developer unit together with the toner container out of the printer and then insert back properly into the machine.
