TV doesn't recognize any remote

My LCD worked fine for 6 months, then one day stopped recognizing the remote. I've used 2 remotes: one for tv specific functions (PIP, tv settings, etc) and the other for my satelite service. Both worked on the volume and TV on/off. They both stopped working at the same time. This definately isn't a remote control issue, but a problem with the TV. Does anyone have any troubleshooting ideas? The remote sensor is not blocked.

my tv doesn't recognize my remote....i'm sure it's not the remote

I have the exact same problem. Remotes for both the TV and cable stopped working with the TV at the same time. This is a Philips 37PF7320A 37 in. This is definitely not a remote problem. Batteries are fresh, and all the cable box functitons can still be run with cable remote.

I can still operate TV from controls on side of the TV. Does anyone have a solution?

The proble is the IR sensor 932220681667 or the small signal board. I would replace the IR sensor first. Also check the firmware and make sure it is BX23U-1.5.0.0_03531 and if it is not go to www.usasupport.com and down load the firware on a USB stick. If the set still has the problem when both are done replace the small signal board.

It turns out that about a month after I posted the problem about my remote no longer working, the power supply board went bad. There are a ton of postings on FixYa that talk about that problem. When I had my power supply board replaced (at a cost of $250!! for an 18-month old TV!!!), the remote started working again as well.

Goog day. I have a Samsung LE40A559 LCD TV and about a week ago it stopped responding to the remote. Remote itself is working as when the TV is off and I push buttons on the remote the blue light on TV...

The flashing blue light shows that the TV is receiving I.R. from the remote but doesn't mean that the signal being received is recognized by the Samsung. If you have a "universal" remote then your TV code may need to be re-entered/reprogrammed...changing batteries in a "universal" will usually require it to be reprogrammed.

Also...because of the remotes construction (rubber membranes with carbon dots that short across PC traces) I've seen certain buttons stop working altogether.

My sharp 32" LCD stopped recognizing the remote, b...

I had the same issue with my Sharp Aquos 52 inch LCD TV. I called Sharp. The tech had me unplug my TV, take the batteries out of the remote (TV remote not cable) and press all buttons on the remote (including the buttons under the flip top at the bottom of the remote). I did this, put the batteries back in and plugged in the tv and everything worked. I had gone 4 months having to use the surround sound for volume and turning the TV on and off by hand. This took 2 minutes to fix.

LE26R74BDX TV Not responding to Remote

there is a easier way to check your remote.
Open your radio on AM frequencies, you don't need to be tuned just noise is perfect, then bring your remote near the antenna and press some button. You will ear the frequency in your radio. If it works this way but not on the TV make sure to press the TV button before using it (if the remote is universal).

Sylvania tv has stopped recognizing commands from remote.

Use some windex on the pickup on the front of the tv. It's a little dark spot, either round or square that picks up the signal from the remote.

Remotes no longer work

I had this exact same problem. After a week or so it started responding to the remote control again. Then after a couple of days it stopped responding. This problem came and went for about a month, then one day the entire TV went dead. When I powered it on, the green light appeared for 2 seconds followed by a sequence of 6 flashing red lights that repeated. I brought my set in to a repair shop and they replaced the power supply board. That fixed the problem and now the TV powers up and responds to the remote control again. Total charge was $250. That was very disappointing for a $1,500 TV that was only 18 months old. I'm going to let Philips know how disappointed I am in their product!

Tv won't recognize remote

It is possible that the remote is defective, or the remote sensing circuits, or the remote sensor in the TV set have failed. Start by trying another known working remote.

I have seen all possible combinations of this!

Intermittently Working Correctly with DirecTv

Update your Harmony remote control software on your PC to the latest. Go into the TV device settings. The software should recognize if there is an update to your TV's IR commands. Try the same things with the DVR.

It's also possible the TV and/or DVR are locking up due to IR commands that are being sent too quickly. The remote has a setting for the delay between commands sent to the same device as well as the delay between commands sent to different devices. Try adjusting these settings:
  1. In the Harmony remote software on your PC, click the "Devices" tab.
  2. For the "TV" device, click the "Settings" button.
  3. Click the dot next to "Adjust the delays" and click Next.
  4. Adjust the "Inter-key" and "Inter-device" delays to something higher and click Next.
  5. Follow the steps to save the changes.
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 for your DVR device as well.

Logitech Harmony Remote

Check the batteries are OK Uninstall it's software, reboot and reinstall it. See if there's a return to default option in the software. You may have mucked things up when you tried changing the configuration. Sorry I can't give more advice I don't know the hardware at all. BMW
