My 47" Vizio has the same problem, heads are cut off at the top and graphics at the bottom...the wide/zoom option didn't help....what do I do?

  • Anonymous Jan 31, 2009

I have exactly the same problem on my new 42 in Vizio LCD TV. Vizio doesn't know what to do and neither does my cable company. It is NOT the zoom.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks

wow same thing happened just out of the blue, and the comment below fixed it. It was my cable box remote, not the TV remote. Thanks

The other poster was right, there is a zoom button on my CABLE REMOTE and once I pressed that my problem was solved. It's funny none of the techs knew that, at either Vizio or Comcast.
Hope this helps.

Same thing happened to me. In my case I found the cable remote had a zoom (or aspect) function that had been pushed.

Ah - THANK YOU. I was watching the AFC Championship game and the picture was way too big on all channels. I unplugged, reset factory defaults, you name it - and nothing worked. UNTIL I saw the entry above about an HD Zoom function on the CABLE remote. Turns out I have that, too, and my cat likely stepped on it. Pushing it returned order and sanity to my TV world!!

It sounds like you have the zoom on. try pressing the 'wide' button on your remote to switch to a different mode.

I found the solution on my Dish Network remote. Went to MENU, SETTINGS, then SCREEN ADJUSTMENTS. Under the HDTV button I changed the Aspect Ratio. I can see the stats for the World Series noe.

My remote for Dish TV doesn't have a Zoom button, but there is one called Format. We were unable to see scores in the top left of some games and the scrolling news at the bottom on others. I pushed that button a few times and it fixed my problem. This was a recent issue with me, so I must have accidentally hit it when trying to change a channel by number entry. YAY!

I have spent a week messing with the controls on my tv trying to make the picture fit. My problem was not the tv, it was the DVR ASPECT button. Thank you sooooo much. Now I can see the scores on the football games today.

SOURCE: the picture on my tv is too big

Take the remote for the TV...not the cable.
They usually have a RESET button.  Go through setting the TV back to factory settings.  This usually corrects this problem.

How do i get the picture to show on vizio tv screen i have hooked everything up am i setting the remote to vizio tv wrong

More info would be helpful; model number, signal source, etc.

You probably have not chosen the right 'source' yet.
This would be cable, satellite, or antenna-

When I turn on my Vizio, the picture is "squished" and the bottom 1/3rd of the screen is white static. The TV is only 6 months old.

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

Vizio vt420m comes on then flickers and then doesn't show any picture, but the tv stays on

If you have not been using the TV for quite sometime, moisture would have developed some defects inside the TV when you switched on. Sometimes even insects and lizards might get in and cause short circuits. Anyhow this might require attention by a qualified service technician.
